Exploring Spain’s Hidden Gems: A Family Adventure

Eager to explore the island’s hidden gems with my kids, I booked an adventure that promised both education and fun. Our guide, Miguel, led us through breathtaking landscapes and local culture, creating an unforgettable family experience.

Discovering the Island’s Hidden Gems

Our adventure began with an early morning start, as my three kids and I eagerly awaited our guide, Miguel, who was to take us on a journey through some of the island’s most breathtaking spots. As a family, we love exploring new places, and this trip promised to be both educational and fun. Miguel arrived promptly at 9 am, and his warm smile immediately put us at ease. The comfortable minibus was perfect for our family, and the kids were thrilled to have their own space to enjoy the ride.

Our first stop was the charming village of Chirche, where we took a short break to enjoy the local coffee, “El Barraquito.” The kids were fascinated by the unique flavors, and it was a great way to start our day. As we continued our journey, Miguel shared stories about the island’s history and culture, keeping the kids engaged and entertained. His knowledge and passion for the island were evident, and it made the experience all the more enriching for us.

Exploring Teide National Park

The highlight of our trip was undoubtedly the visit to Teide National Park. The landscape was unlike anything we had ever seen, with its vast lava fields and towering peaks. We took a short walk to the crater of the Sámara volcano, and the kids were amazed by the volcanic formations. It was a fantastic opportunity for them to learn about geology in a hands-on way, and they couldn’t stop asking questions.

Miguel’s expertise shone through as he explained the significance of the “Roques de García” and the history of the “El Pico Viejo” lava field. The kids were captivated by the stories of volcanic eruptions and the formation of the island. It was a perfect blend of education and adventure, and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience for my family.

A Taste of Local Culture

On our way back, we stopped at the village of Vilaflor, where we marveled at the oldest and largest pine tree, “El Pino Gordo.” The kids loved the chance to stretch their legs and explore the area. Miguel’s recommendation for lunch at a local Guachinche in Garachico was a delightful surprise. The food was delicious, and the kids enjoyed trying new dishes.

As we drove through the wine region of Abono, Miguel shared insights into the local wine-making traditions, and we even had the chance to sample some of the local products. It was a wonderful way to end our day, and the kids were full of stories to share with their friends back home.

Our adventure with Miguel was more than just a tour; it was an unforgettable family experience that combined learning, exploration, and fun. I highly recommend this trip to any family looking to discover the island’s hidden gems and create lasting memories together. Island Adventure
