VIP tour of Timanfaya National Park - I booked this experience for the last night of my trip to Lanzarote. I had been to Timanfaya 20 years before and completed the ‘day tour’; I gather there are now heavy traffic queues to do this these days, so booking the evening tour when the park is closed to the public was ideal. Seeing the park after hours felt so special. We even go to walk on part of the park, which you cannot do during the day. Our guide, Christina, was warm and approachable and our driver, Tonio, was so skilled and professional.
The national park has to be one of the best - if not the best - well preserved volcanic landscapes on earth. What a privilege to experience this tour.

What an experience! - The evening Timanfaya experience was beyond anything we ever expected. Fun, exciting, funny and educative. Our driver Antonio made us laugh with his "subtle" face expressions, a few tricks on the way and his big, genuine smile. And our tour guide Jaimie (not sure how to spell it) had a amazing sense of humor with special stories a long the way. What a dream team! Definitely worth it and an unforgetable memory!

A memorable evening excursion - Amazing experience seeing the mountain by night. Only 150 people allowed on tour and people are allocated to a coach depending on nationality with their own guide and commentaty. The scenery is spectacular and you are allowed to get off the coach to take photos. The meal in the restaurant is extremely well organised and drinks of wine or soft drinks is included in the price. The food is tasty and includes a starter, main of chicken, rib, sausage and sweet potato follwed by a dessert. Staff are friendly and efficient. Well worth the expenditure.

Beautiful experience - Nice experience. Good driver and tour guide. Timanfaya is very nice; especially the part where we were allowed off the bus. Food was tasty and ample.
Tip: long pants and possibly vest (it is windy and cold in the evening).

A wonderful evening - We opted for this evening tour to avoid the crowds in the day. The experience was excellent, with three demonstrations, a tour around the park with a stop where we were able to get off. The views at this point were some of the best in the park. Pot luck who gets the best views at the restaurant. We were on the last coach, so didn't get a view overlooking the park but instead were next to the musicians, who were absolutely excellent. Plenty of food (whole chicken leg, sausage and pork, plus slice of potato and veg). Downsides: We were four coach loads, and only three could go at once to the point where we could disembark. We were on the fourth coach and had to wait for some time to go up, although this did mean we were then the only coach load, which was nice. Some microphone issues, which have been mentioned in other reviews. Shortly after booking, I was contacted asking where we were staying and advised of our nearest collection point. On the afternoon of our visit, I had another message asking where we were staying, which I answered straight away and then a phone call a couple of hours before we were due to go, again asking where we were staying. This left me feeling quite uneasy as to why they didn't already have the previous information and whether we were going to be collected. As it happens, everything was fine, but organisation could definitely be improved.

A wonderful evening - The trip was as magical as I hoped it would be. We went last year by day. By night it is significantly quieter due to such low numbers of people (vs day). The coach was pleasant; unfortunately for us we were the first pick up so it was a long journey; the only part I was disappointed with. When we got to the park we were able to get off; see some demonstrations and use the facilities. Then we had our tour (the lunar route) which included a stop for 10/15 minutes to have a walk and take photographs. This was incredible and you don’t get that by day. We arrived back at the restaurant; we were very lucky to have a table to ourselves but most have to share. Salads were already on the table and staff were attentive with pouring wine (La Geria - excellent). At your leisure you can go up to the barbecue area for your food (chicken, pork, sausage, sweet potatoes and vegetables). There is one dessert - volcano cake (more like a mousse) that is all brought out together. The gift shop is open all evening. A wonderful evening. The return journey was much quicker as people are just getting off at their hotels and not having to check paperwork etc like when they get on.

Evening volcano trip with dining experience - Fantastic clean aircon bus , clean windows for great views. Amazing tour guide, went out of his way to help with family photos at various stops in the park. Dining experience was a little rushed. This is luck of the draw, we were the last bus of 4; so best tables were gone and as soon as your starter plate looked semi empty waiters were whisking them away and ushering you up to go get your mains. Starters were a roll with canary potatoes homemade coleslaw and cheese. Mains big chunk of chicken ,pork ,spicy sausage tomato peppers slice of jacket potato

Tour not for disabled /Restaurant accessible - This was a wonderful trip and interesting but as a disabled person the tour is not accessible my wheelchair nearly tipped and getting on and off the bus too much with crutches. I would not of done it if I had known. Was physically too much. You could stay on the bus.
The dining experience was amazing though food beautiful cooked on Volcano hot spot. Chicken, Pork Sausage , pepper and tomato. Potatoes salad to start and a chocolate Volcano for dessert. The restaurant accessible and disabled toliets. Beautiful views .

A Spaghetti Western - Some good, Some bad, some ugly - Mixed feelings over this trip, some good , some bad, firstly, let's look at the bad, picked up on the scheduled time and the passengers consisted of different nationalities which meant driving to a different location so we could be split onto different buses depending upon language. We were split to English/ German so everything was repeated in two languages which is tiresome when long passages are in a different language, plus, the high volume on the bus plus a screechy commentators voice was painful. It was messy moving buses and the organisation could have been much better with people milling around not really getting any instruction.
We were Bus 5 which means going through the park we were stopping and waiting continuously whilst the coaches ahead moved forward. This was BORING and needs changing !! as one Lava stone is not much different to the next one and listening to a pre recorded audio tape on the bus was again a stupid shortcut that made it feel like a school science trip.
It was far to long going through the Lava field and when we arrived at the restaurant it was located in the middle of the Lava field and was spectacular. We then had 3 volcanic experiments which were very good so pleased don't forget to video them especially the second two.
We did ANOTHER trip through the Lava field which is very scary as drops of plus 100ft with no barriers was nerve wracking to see some calderas but in my opinion this should be removed from the trip and spilt the first Lava field trip in half instead.
Meal of Chicken, Pork, Sausage & Peppers cooked via the thermal heat was nice, potato wasnt nice and realistically it would have been better having the meat with Salad rather than mushed peppers and dried out jacket potato.
Views were spectacular as the sun went down, staff were helpful and nice in the venue, and various drinks on supply which they were happy to keep on supplying until we left.
Conclusion, is it worth the money ? I would say not really, but the views were spectacular and the experiments gives some fun. Would I recommend booking it , well Yes !! I would, simply because the core is there for a very good trip and tweaks need to done to make it better and the views from various points are breathtaking. The coach trips through the park need reworking better and the pickups and drop offs were very good.
