A truly authentic experience - A truly authentic experience. We had a wonderful afternoon / evening with Nim, exploring the market, finding new vegetables we hadn’t heard of before, and then a really informative evening learning about Sri Lanka’s unique cuisine. Nim is also extremely knowledgeable and we had excellent conversations and felt like we were old friends by the time we left. Worth every penny for a really local experience!

Cooking with Nim. A fun half day cooking and learning the culinary delights of Sri Lanka with Nim. - We enjoyed going to the market and learning all about the different fruit and vegetables native to Sri Lanka. We enjoyed cooking our curries with our chef and sitting down to lunch to hear more about this country. His knowledge and hospitality was boundless.

From market to table … - A full day cultural experience - collected by taxi and taken to local market where we met with our host, Nim. Explored every inch of the market and learnt about the huge variety of tropical fruits & vegetables. Tastes of several then taxi onto Nim’s home and a hands on cooking class. In a relaxed class of 4 guests we made 3 different curries, a coconut sambal and some coconut rotis, then sat down to eat it all!!! Great way to spend a day in the real Sri Lanka, not tourist haunts.

Wonderful cooking tour, highly recommended - Hi Nim, thank you so much for a fantastic cooking experience, I loved every minute of it! You were a great host and teacher, so generous with your time and I particularly enjoyed our chats on your deck with a beer between cooking. The dishes we created were beyond amazing and I can only hope I make something close to their taste st home….at least I now have a suitcase full of spices to help! I highly recommend this tour, it’s a wonderful experience.

Cooking class - Nim was an amazing host, the whole experience was incredible. We loved going to the market with the locals, and choosing the ingredients for our meals. He was super knowledgeable, and answered every question we had. We can’t wait to recreate these meals at home. Thanks Nim!

The perfect Colombo experience! - We loved our market tour and cooking class with Nim! The market tour was so interesting but our absolute highlight was the cooking class and chats with Nim. Because there were only 2 of us taking the class, we were in a beautiful house in the suburbs of Colombo, with a beautiful rainforest outside we could enjoy watching during thoughtfully placed cold beer breaks. Nim is not just a great guide, but a qualified and experienced culinary professional and was so knowledgeable and so lovely and helped us make some of the best food we enjoyed during our time in Sri Lanka. After the hustle and bustle of Colombo, this was such a refreshing experience to enjoy - we left feeling so relaxed and so happy (and full!). Highly recommend, particularly as a nice ending to your trip to leave on a lovely relaxed note.

An excellent hands on introduction to Sri Lankan cuisine - Nim organised transport from our Colombo hotel to his local market .That worked seamlessly! Market shopping was fun,with Nim being most informative about a whole range of fruit and vegetables that were unfamiliar to us. Upon arrival at his home we were provided with a delicious wood apple drink made by Nim and then began our cooking adventure.Nim is an excellent instructor.Well organised,skilled,patient and passionate about Sri Lankan food. We highly recommend this cooking experience.

Learning cooking skills from Sri Lanker just before the flight home. - I managed to book a cooking class at the last minute with Rustic Cooking Class. Nim was extremely helpful he managed to fit 4 of us in for the next day. We started with the market tour where we had different produce explained to us. We were also able to try some of the fruits that we had not previously tasted. Then onto cooking. We all selected a fruit or vegetable that we could make a curry with. Nim was able to work on our choices. I found this to be more interesting than a prepared menu plan. So, we had 4 curries made from beetroot, jackfruit, banana flower and eggplant. Great expedience I would strongly recommend this while you are in Colombo

Wonderful experience. - We did the market shopping and cooking tour with Nimh. It was fantastic. We met him at a community market where he toured us around and explained the many products that we had not seen before. We then purchased some things for dinner and took a tuk tuk with him to prepare the meal. It was my husband and me and he took such lovely care of us. He walked us carefully through the preparation of chicken curry, pineapple curry, coconut sambal and coconut roti. We learned how to cut, cook and spice all of these things and finally enjoyed the delicious meal. Nimh then helped us get a tuk tuk back to our hotel. He is a lovely person and we very much enjoyed the experience.
