Udawalawe National Park - Located in southern Sri Lanka, Udawalawe National Park is a wildlife sanctuary established in 1972, renowned for its significant and easily visible population of Asian elephants. The park was created to safeguard animals displaced by the construction of the Udawalawe reservoir. It boasts open plains, grasslands, and forests, with the reservoir acting as a central water source that draws numerous elephants throughout the year. Besides elephants, visitors can also spot animals such as water buffalos, deer, and leopards, along with a diverse array of bird species. Additionally, the park is home to the Elephant Transit Home for orphaned elephants.

Elephant Transit Home (ETH) - The Udawalawe Elephant Transit Home (ETH) is a rehabilitation center in Sri Lanka dedicated to orphaned elephant calves. These young elephants are raised with minimal human interaction until they are ready to be released back into the wild. Managed by the Wildlife Conservation Department of Sri Lanka, the center aims to support elephants orphaned due to human-wildlife conflict, poaching, or other reasons, helping them to thrive and reintegrate into their natural environment. Visitors can watch the elephants during scheduled feeding times, which occur every three hours from 9 am to 6 pm, but are not allowed to physically interact with them.
