The adventure begins with a journey through the park’s savanna grasslands, where there is a chance to spot elephants, deer, water buffalo, and mongooses. Additionally, visitors should watch for crocodiles in the wetlands and a variety of birds such as the Fishing Eagle, Brahminy Kite, Crested Serpent Eagle, Sri Lankan Jungle Fowl, Sri Lanka Grey Hornbill, Spot-billed Pelican, Little Cormorant, Green Bee-eater, and Crested Tree Swift among the trees.
The tour will then proceed to the picturesque banks of the Udawalawe Reservoir, framed by towering mountains. Here, one can observe groups of crocodiles basking on the banks or swimming in the lakes, vibrant birds of prey fishing, and numerous other birds and animals, including herds of elephants coming to drink and rest.

We also keep a lookout for crocodiles in the marshlands and myriad birds such as the Sea Eagle, Fishing Eagle, Brahminy Kite, Crested Serpent Eagle, Sri Lankan Jungle Fowl, Sri Lanka Grey Hornbill, Spot-billed Pelican, Little Cormorant, Green Bee-eater, and Crested Tree Swift.
The journey proceeds towards the beautiful banks of the Udawalawe Reservoir, cradled by vast mountains. It’s common to spot groups of crocodiles, either lounging on the banks or swimming in the lakes. Look out for vibrant birds seeking prey, as well as other animals and bird species. Elephants are often seen coming to the reservoir to hydrate and rest.
