This park is ideal for witnessing elephants drinking, bathing, and even engaging in playful fights.
Situated just outside the park, a center is dedicated to rehabilitating orphaned elephants and returning them to the wild. The best times to visit are during feeding sessions, typically at 9:00 AM, 12:00 PM, 3:00 PM, and 6:00 PM.
While leopards are not as prevalent as in Yala National Park, Udawalawe does have a small leopard population. With some luck, visitors might also see fishing cats and jungle cats.
The park is abundant with water buffalo, often seen wallowing in mud or grazing. Sambar deer and spotted deer are also frequently observed near the open plains.
Udawalawe National Park is one of the premier locations in Sri Lanka to experience wildlife, particularly elephants, in their natural environment.
