- Yala National Park - The Driver-Tracker will greet guests at the Hambantota Port cruise terminal and then drive them to Yala National Park to begin the safari. Yala is renowned for having the highest density of leopards in the world. Visitors can also see sloth bears, elephant herds, and a variety of wildlife including wild buffalos, boars, deer species, sambur elks, crocodiles, monkeys, foxes, wild cat species, alligators, reptiles, mongoose, turtles, porcupines, and birds. “Block 1” is a popular area for animal sightings, where the terrain transitions from salty bushland by the Indian Ocean to a deep semi-dry zone jungle with rugged topography. A river with dramatic sandy banks runs through a thick jungle with a dark forest canopy. At noon, the Driver-Tracker will stop at the beach area for lunch, which is included in the package. After lunch, the evening game drive will commence, and upon completion, guests will be driven back to Hambantota Port.
