Riding the Waves and Trails

As someone who has spent countless hours riding the waves, the idea of trading my surfboard for a saddle was both intriguing and exhilarating. The day began with a scenic drive from Montego Bay to the stables in St. Ann Parish. The lush greenery and vibrant landscapes of Jamaica never fail to captivate me, and this journey was no exception. Upon arrival, I was greeted by the friendly guides from Little Guys Tours, easily recognizable in their green shirts. Our group of five was paired with four guides, ensuring a personalized and safe experience.

The horseback ride was a delightful blend of nature and adventure. We trotted along the trails, feeling the gentle Caribbean breeze against our skin. The highlight, however, was riding the horses into the ocean. The sensation of the cool water splashing against my legs as the horse waded through the waves was nothing short of magical. It was a unique way to connect with the ocean, reminiscent of the freedom I feel while surfing. The guides were attentive, capturing moments on our phones and ensuring we had the best experience possible.

Climbing the Cascades

After the invigorating horseback ride, we made our way to the iconic Dunn’s River Falls. The drive was a short 30 minutes, and the anticipation built as we approached one of Jamaica’s most famous natural attractions. The falls were bustling with visitors, each eager to conquer the cascading waters. Armed with my trusty tennis shoes, I opted to climb the falls without a guide, embracing the challenge with my fellow adventurers.

The climb was both thrilling and refreshing. The water cascaded down, creating a natural massage as we navigated the rocky terrain. The beauty of the falls was undeniable, with the sunlight dancing on the water’s surface, creating a mesmerizing spectacle. While a waterproof case would have been handy, the experience was unforgettable. The sense of accomplishment upon reaching the top was akin to catching the perfect wave, a moment of pure exhilaration and joy.

The Journey Back

As the day drew to a close, we embarked on the journey back to Montego Bay. The two-hour drive was a chance to reflect on the day’s adventures, the memories made, and the beauty of Jamaica. Despite the traffic, the ride was a peaceful end to an action-packed day. The camaraderie among our group, the laughter, and shared stories made the time fly by.
