Sailing the Virgin Islands: A Day on Breakaway’s Private Yacht Adventure
When the call of the ocean beckoned, I couldn’t resist the allure of a private yacht adventure through the Virgin Islands. With memories of past voyages and a thirst for new experiences, I set sail on Breakaway, eager to explore the hidden gems of the Caribbean.
Setting Sail on Breakaway
The sun was just beginning to peek over the horizon as I stepped aboard Breakaway, a sleek 53-foot yacht that promised a day of adventure and relaxation. The gentle sway of the boat beneath my feet was a familiar sensation, reminiscent of my days chasing waves across the globe. But today, the ocean was my playground in a different way. With a light breakfast in hand, I settled into the plush seating, ready to explore the Virgin Islands in style.
Captain Dave and his crew, Brie and Cam, greeted us with warm smiles and a laid-back vibe that set the tone for the day. As we cruised away from the dock, the salty breeze ruffled my hair, and I felt the familiar thrill of the open sea. The itinerary was ours to shape, and with the crew’s guidance, we decided to snorkel along the coast of St. John before heading to the iconic Baths.
Exploring The Baths
Our first stop was The Baths, a natural wonder that never fails to impress. I had visited this spot years ago, and I was eager to see if it still held the same magic. As we anchored, I donned my snorkel gear, albeit with the new addition of an inflatable snorkel vest. While it felt a bit cumbersome, it didn’t detract from the vibrant underwater world that awaited.
The Baths were as breathtaking as ever, with their towering granite boulders and hidden pools. The storms of 2017 hadn’t diminished their beauty, and I found myself lost in the maze of rock formations, each turn revealing a new perspective of this natural masterpiece. After a leisurely swim, we headed to the Top Of The Baths for lunch. The open-air seating offered a panoramic view of the azure waters, and the fresh buffet was a delightful treat.
A Whirlwind at White Bay
With our appetites satisfied, we set sail for Jost Van Dyke, specifically White Bay, a spot known for its lively atmosphere and stunning beach. The journey there was filled with laughter and stories, as the crew shared tales of the islands and their adventures.
Upon arrival, the vibrant energy of White Bay was palpable. The beach was a lively mix of sunbathers, swimmers, and those simply soaking in the island vibes. I couldn’t resist diving into the crystal-clear waters, inflatable vest and all. While the vest was a minor inconvenience, it didn’t stop me from enjoying the refreshing swim.
As the sun began its descent, casting a golden glow over the bay, I realized how quickly the day had flown by. The camaraderie with fellow passengers and the crew made the experience all the more memorable. As we sailed back to St. John, I felt a deep sense of contentment, knowing that the ocean had once again shared its wonders with me. This Virgin Islands Adventure is one I would recommend to anyone seeking a blend of relaxation and exploration in the Caribbean.
