- Old Courthouse - The Old Courthouse in St. Louis has undergone numerous transformations. Originally constructed in 1828, it was expanded in 1839 and has been redesigned and remodeled multiple times. The courthouse is linked to two landmark cases that reached the US Supreme Court, and a National Park museum inside details the history and legacy of these cases.
- Dred And Harriet Scott Statue - The Dred and Harriet Scott Statue on the courthouse’s east side honors the Scotts’ fight for freedom in the US courts. Although ultimately unsuccessful, their struggle directly contributed to the onset of the United States Civil War.
- Luther Ely Smith Square - Luther Ely Smith Square marks the beginning of the St. Louis Gateway Mall, a series of parks and green spaces running through downtown St. Louis. The park honors Luther Ely Smith, the visionary behind the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial, the precursor to Gateway Arch National Park. The park also marks the start of the Gateway Arch Trail, which meanders through the National Park. Two beautiful zen gardens offer shade and relaxation.
- Museum of Westward Expansion - The Gateway Arch Museum of Western Expansion is among the finest National Park museums in the nation. It boasts an impressive collection of artifacts and engaging, interactive exhibits. Visitors can purchase tickets for various park activities, such as a riverboat cruise, a 30-minute film, a VR experience, and a tram ride to the top of the arch. The museum also houses a gift shop and restaurant.

- Explorer’s Garden - This northern section of the park, known as The North Gateway, spans seven-and-a-half acres of the Gateway Arch National Park. It features a natural amphitheater hosting concerts and events throughout the year. The Explorer’s Garden showcases plants documented by Lewis and Clark during their travels and used by the Indigenous People they encountered. The garden contains approximately 26 different plant species and five types of wild grass in the surrounding Native Meadow.
- Eads Bridge - The Eads Bridge is the oldest surviving bridge across the Mississippi River. Constructed in the late 19th century, it was a pioneering achievement designed by renowned engineer James Buchanan Eads. It was the first bridge globally to utilize steel as its primary structural material.
- The Captains’ Return - This bronze statue of Lewis, Clark, and Lewis’ dog Seaman commemorates the expedition’s heroic return. Created by sculptor Harry Weber, it was added to the riverfront in 2006.
- Mississippi River Overlook - Get close to the historic Mississippi River! Nearby, visitors can enjoy a helicopter tour of the park or board a riverboat cruise.
- The Gateway Arch - The Grand Staircase of Gateway Arch National Park ascends from the riverfront to the arch. The staircase symbolizes Rising Up to the West, embodying the challenges and riches it held.
- Basilica of Saint Louis, King of France - Locally known as The Old Cathedral, this church was established in the 1700s, shortly after the city’s founding. The current building was erected in 1834. The church is open to visitors only on the first Sunday of the month, after the noon Mass. However, a museum is open several days a week.
