• Hornindalsvatnet Lake - On the journey to the kingdom of glaciers, we pass by Hornindalsvatnet, the deepest lake in Europe. Enjoy the majestic water mirror reflecting mountains, clouds, forests, and charming farms with fluffy sheep. This expansive lake covers 50.5 square kilometers and reaches a depth of 514 meters. It hosts a few fish species, such as trout, char, and eel, but the rivers are more abundant. The Eidselva River, Hornindalsvatnet’s source, is a renowned salmon and trout fishery in Nordfjordeid. Fishing permits and maps indicating fishing areas are available at local hotels. If we arrive when no cruise ships are present, the village appears tranquil. We’ll pause for a coffee and restroom break before exploring the wonders of this captivating glacial region.
• Oldedalen - We will journey through the breathtaking Oldedalen valley. As this is a private tour, we can stop at the most intriguing spots not accessible on bus tours. Without the tourist crowds, you can admire the stunning beauty of glacial lakes surrounded by magnificent flowers.
• Briksdal Glacier (Briksdalbreen) - Upon reaching Briksdal Glacier National Park, we will board an open-air electric vehicle, affectionately called the “Troll Car,” and travel along the winding road to the Briksdal Glacier. From the Troll Cars stop, a 10-minute walk leads to the glacier’s tongue, featuring a stunning lake. The trail is uneven and rocky, with gentle inclines, so comfortable footwear is recommended.
