- Lady Elizabeth Shipwreck - Situated at the eastern end of Stanley Harbour, this is Stanley’s most prominent and iconic shipwreck. Known as Lady Liz, the ship was launched in Sunderland, UK, in 1879 and sustained damage while rounding Cape Horn in 1913. She made her way to Stanley for repairs, but the high costs prevented any from being completed. After various moorings in Stanley Harbour, a fierce gale in 1936 drove the Lady Liz to her current resting place. This is a popular spot for photography with the backdrop of Stanley and the mountains to the west.
