Operating Schedule: Why wait until Carnival to experience a Samba School rehearsal?

Samba Schools start preparing for the grand Carnival parade months in advance. Rehearsals typically begin in July or August, depending on the samba school.

Starting in July, every Saturday night, small groups are invited to visit the renowned Salgueiro Samba School, one of Rio de Janeiro’s finest. This promises to be an unforgettable experience.

Pick-up is arranged between 8:00 pm and 9:00 pm, depending on your hotel location.

The tour includes round-trip transportation from accommodations in the following neighborhoods: Centro, Catete, Botafogo, Flamengo, Glória, Lapa, Copacabana, Leme, Ipanema, and Leblon. Pick-up is not available in Barra da Tijuca, São Conrado, or Recreio (meeting point at the Sheraton Leblon Hotel), nor in Santa Teresa (meeting point at Vila Galé Hotel – Centro).

On the afternoon of your tour, the guide will confirm the exact pick-up time.

Upon arrival at the Samba School rehearsal, entrance tickets are provided, and a comfortable table is reserved for you and your group.

The evening begins with a vibrant Brazilian Popular Music band.

Spectacular samba dancers (passistas), traditional baianas, skilled musicians, and the flag-bearing couple (mestre-sala and porta-bandeira) will introduce you to the captivating world of Samba and Rio’s Carnival.

Around 11:30 pm, the highlight of the night occurs: the performance of the bateria (percussion orchestra), the heartbeat of the samba school. Sixty percussion instruments played in perfect harmony create a rhythm of unparalleled strength and joy.

This rhythm is a cultural treasure of immense value.

At 1:00 am, you and your group will be returned to your accommodation.

The tour includes round-trip transportation, a licensed tour guide, entrance ticket, and a shared table.

Food and drinks are not included.
