- Stortorget - Stortorget serves as the vibrant heart of Stockholm and the central square of the Old Town. Its iconic, colorful buildings make it a must-visit! Discover the history of the Stockholm Bloodbath, the Nobel Prize, and more as you wander through the charming narrow alleyways.
- Prästgatan 13 - The northernmost section of Prästgatan (Priest Street) was historically known as Helvetsgränd (Hell’s Alley). In the Middle Ages, it was believed that the area northwest of the church was a desecrated burial ground. Storkyrkan (Stockholm Cathedral) is nearby, which is why this part of the street was referred to as Hell.
- Royal Palace - The Royal Palace is one of the largest and most dynamic palaces in Europe. It serves as the official residence of His Majesty the King, where significant royal events take place. The Royal Palace is also the daily workplace for the King and Queen, making it unique among Europe’s royal residences.
- Storkyrkan - Stockholm Cathedral is among the city’s oldest structures. Inside, you’ll find a wooden statue of St George and the Dragon from the 1400s. The cathedral hosts grand events like royal weddings, including the 2010 marriage of Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel, following her parents’ tradition.
- Jarnpojken - Järnpojken is Sweden’s smallest (and most charming!) statue. Officially named the Iron Boy, he is also affectionately known as the “Boy looking at the Moon”.
- St George and the Dragon Statue - The St George and the Dragon statue symbolizes the conflict between Sweden (St. George) and Denmark (the Dragon) in the late 1400s. The sculpture is a bronze replica; the original wooden version is housed inside Storkyrkan (Stockholm Cathedral).
- Brända Tomten - The square known as Brända Tomten translates to “the burnt property.” Discover the history of the fires that devastated Old Town and the insurance required to receive assistance from the fire department in those days.
- Marten Trotzigs grand - Mårten Trotzig is the narrowest alley in Stockholm, measuring just 90cm at its slimmest point. While some guidebooks claim it is the narrowest alley in Europe, this is not accurate; Prague has an alley only 60cm wide. There are certainly narrower alleys in other European countries than Mårten Trotzig.
- Iglesia Alemana - When Stockholm was established in 1252, its founder, Birger Jarl, invited Germans to aid in building the city. The German Church was constructed in the 1600s.
- Riddarholmen Church - Riddarholmen, known as “The Island of Nobility,” features Stockholm’s oldest preserved building and offers a stunning view overlooking Lake Mälaren and the western side of Stockholm.
- Stockholm City Hall - Admire the view of Stockholm City Hall, adorned with three golden crowns, the symbol of Sweden. This is the venue for one of Sweden’s most renowned events—the Nobel Banquet—held annually on December 10th.
