Storyville was such a pleasant surprise. - Storyville was such a pleasant surprise. I didn’t expect to enjoy it as much as we did, but it turned out to be an incredibly enlightening experience. Everything was thoughtfully done, and you can tell there’s real care behind it. The ladies at the front desk were amazing—so welcoming, kind, and helpful. They really set the tone for the visit. I would absolutely recommend it.

True history of New Orleans! Worth a visit! - This museum had only been open about 6 months when my sister and I went on my birthday trip to New Orleans. I think it's becoming increasingly popular, but when we went, it was a hidden gem! Everyone THINKS they know the history of New Orleans, but this museum shares the true history: the good, the bad, and the ugly! It is so interesting how the city was largely known for it's red light district but the city officials and US government tried to bury it under a rug. When the US government forced the closure of Storyville in 1917 the NOLA mayor summed up the situation well "You can make it illegal, but you can't make it unpopular" This is a fascinating museum that everyone who goes to New Orleans should visit if they want to learn the true history of New Orleans!

Thoughtful, Accurate and Well-Staged - Having researched Storyville a great deal, I was gratified to see that this museum is accurate, factual, and the exhibits are engaging and very professional, like ones you'd see at the Smithsonian or other world-class venue. I was also glad that the museum pointed out that the "Storyville Ordinance" did NOT legalize prostitution, a myth repeated over the years. The other threads that flowed from Storyville, like jazz, are well-presented, and the museum states-as is true-that Jazz was not invented in New Orleans, but that Storyville certainly was an incubator for the genre and for many soon-to-be-famous performers. This is, of course, a museum for 18+ folks.

Good but a bit steep in price - Overall this is a fairly well-done museum…. Interesting stories to tell (no pun intended). A bit steep in price for what you got - especially compared to other museums in the city. But it was clean and well-kept.

Story ville Museum - The Storyville Museum was very informative. It allowed us to understand the history of the city as we did other walking tours and roamed about on our own. Great exhibitions and people.
