Fantastic! DELICIOUS! A must-do excursion in Strasbourg, France. - Fantastic! DELICIOUS! A must-do excursion in Strasbourg, France. We were a group of 6 looking to mirror the ship’s food tasting excursion. We booked with Strasbourg Food & City Tours based on reviews in various on-line forums. We were not disappointed! Our guide, Julie, was excellent! Julie is a local who knew every part of Strasbourg. More importantly, after a 15-20 minute taxi ride (57 euro for 6 of us in a mini-van) from where the ship docks in Kehl, GR to Strasbourg, France, Julie quickly guided us away from the hundreds (literally) of tourists also gathered in the city center for ship excursions. Julie enlightened us with Strasbourg history while stopping at various shops where we tasted local cake, cheeses, eclairs, chocolates, and macaroons. Julie arranged: a private demonstration of a local dessert similar to ginger bread that is used to make a lot of things including a very healthy “energy bar”; tastings of local 3 wines paired with a very full charcuterie board; and, dinner of salad and flambé (don’t call it pizza) with wine or beer at a local restaurant. Julie even added a bag of pretzels since my family is from Philadelphia, PA (USA) where pretzels are a staple. My family and I agreed this excursion was one of the best things we did on the cruise.

Exceeded My Expectations - Would Highly Recommend - Frankly, we just signed up for this tour because some friends decided to do it. It far exceeded my expectations. Our guide (Eva) was so warm and knowledgeable. I felt like we hit some hot spots without it being too touristy. I saw another review that said they didn't get enough food...frankly, I don't understand that. We got so much food that we even packed some up and at it later in our hotel. Tour was 6 hours...it probably would have been fine in 5, but we also had a small group so it's possible we moved faster.
