- Isola Madre - Discover Lake Maggiore and the Borromean Islands at your leisure with a 1-day hop-on hop-off boat tour departing from Stresa. Enjoy the flexibility to board and disembark the boats as frequently as you wish, taking in the stunning lake views and exploring the remarkable attractions on the islands. The season begins on March 19th, 2022, when the museums and gardens of Isola Bella and Madre open, and continues until November 1st, 2022, ensuring a stop at Isola Madre. Outside these dates, the tour excludes a stop at Isola Madre due to the closure of museums and gardens, offering instead a brief circumnavigation of the island. Board our boats to start your journey to the Borromean Islands, with Isola Madre as the first destination. Isola Madre, located in the heart of the gulf, features a splendid Renaissance palace surrounded by one of Italy’s oldest and most significant gardens.
- Island of the Fishermen (Isola dei Pescatori) - Isola Superiore dei Pescatori is the second stop, renowned as the most picturesque of the Borromean Islands, named after the primary occupation of its residents. It is the only Borromean island inhabited year-round, home to a quaint village of fifty residents, characterized by a small square and winding alleys leading to the promenade at the island’s northern tip. As the name suggests, fishing remains a popular activity, and visitors can savor fresh catches at the many lakeside restaurants. After exploring Fishermen’s Island, you can reboard the boats to reach Isola Bella.
- Isola Bella - Isola Bella is the third stop on our tour, famed as the most renowned of the three islands. It features the grand Borromeo palace, surrounded by an Italian garden constructed on ten terraces. The highlight is the renowned park: an Italian garden with ten terraces arranged in a stepped pyramid, adorned with statues, fountains, rare shrubs, exotic plants, and fragrant flowers like magnolias and camellias. The garden’s upper section, known as the “amphitheater” for its historical performances, is topped by the unicorn, the Borromeo family emblem. Enjoy the freedom to board and disembark the boat as often as you like, taking in the breathtaking lake scenery and exploring the islands’ exceptional sights. The tour concludes at Stresa Piazza Marconi, the base of our boats.

- In the 14th century the Borromeo, powerful feudal lords of the area but originally from San Miniato, became owners of the islands and thus began their transformation. Even today the family still owns Isola Bella and Isola Madre, in addition to the three rocks that emerged known as Castles of Cannero due to the ruins of medieval fortifications. Isola dei Pescatori is the only one permanently inhabited, albeit by a small community, while the two “sister” islands are coveted by tourists who admire the two splendid palaces and their gardens, famous throughout Europe for the quality of the landscape. and for the care and variety of plant architectures, made up of over 2000 varieties of different species. In Isola Madre there is also a large fauna of oriental birds, such as white peacocks, golden pheasants and parrots, free in the splendid garden. Isola Bella, on the other hand, has a garden that, skilfully designed over the centuries, has multicolored blooms throughout the year, in rotation among the various floral species (roses, orchids, bulbous plants, magnolias, orchards, azaleas, gardenias, wisteria).
