• Tröll Expeditions Skaftafell - Skaftafell, a stunning nature reserve in Southeast Iceland, is home to remarkable natural wonders. One of these wonders is explored on a glacier outlet of Vatnajökull. Upon arrival, the guide will equip participants with essential gear, including a helmet, crampons, harness, and ice axe. Once prepared, the journey towards the glacier begins. Falljökull, a glacier outlet from Vatnajökull, translates to “The Falling Glacier.” The area’s icefall is a rare phenomenon on Earth, and as the exploration continues, the ice formations become increasingly breathtaking. These include crevasses, deep cracks on the glacier’s surface, and moulins—vertical shafts in the ice formed by melting water seeping into fissures and cracks. During winter, it’s often possible to glimpse into small ice tunnels and capture the stunning blue core of the ice. The glacier exploration lasts about 4 hours, with the guide leading through the most exciting and challenging sections. Participants will also have the opportunity to use proper glacier equipment, such as harnesses and ropes, to navigate more demanding terrain, enhancing the adventure experience.
