- Breiðamerkurjökull - On the Ice Exploration tour, you’ll spend about 2 hours (4-6 km) hiking on Breiðamerkurjökull, a glacier outlet of Vatnajökull. Your guide will explain how glaciers form and change, affecting their surroundings. You’ll see various natural attractions, including mountains, ashy ice, and possibly blue ice. The tour activities vary based on daily conditions and group preferences, with options to explore larger glacier areas or enter moulins and crevasses. Rated medium in difficulty, the tour requires participants to walk 4-6 km on diverse terrain and in varying weather conditions. No prior glacier experience is needed.
We provide crampons, helmets, and safety harnesses. Guides will ensure you’re prepared before starting. Dress according to the weather; the glacier is usually as cold as the Glacier Lagoon meeting point. Wear warm, breathable clothing and sturdy shoes. Meeting times are 08:30, 12:00, or 13:45.

Amazing experience and great guide - Amazing experience walking on the glacier. Avi, the guide, was great and very informative. We got lucky with the weather, not sure if it would be that much fun if it was raining or misty.

- We did the Zodiac Boat and Glacier Walk exploration tour and it was an incredible and unique experience!!!
The glacier tour started with a drive in an amazing “Monster Truck” to the glacier. The glacier hike was very impressive and informative. Our guide was truly excellent and led us safely! We had good visibility and could even see the glacier lagoon. However, you should be in a certain level of physical fitness for the hike.
The Zodiac tour on the glacier lagoon was also fantastic! We passed huge icebergs and finally reached to the edge of the glacier and learned a lot about the ice and the glacier. We also passed three seals resting on the ice. I would always do the Zodiac tour instead the amphibian boat because the Zodiac takes you all the way to the edge of the glacier and allows you to get closer to the icebergs.
Overall, a really great combined excursion that you shouldn't miss during your trip to Iceland!

- We had the most amazing time with Ice Explorer despite the rain. The glacier walk offers close up experience of the largest glacier in Europe. We learnt how to put on crampons and then took a hike up the mountain with experienced guides. The view from the top was stunning!

A once-in-a-lifetime glacier adventure - This tour was the absolute highlight of our Iceland road trip. The blue ice, crystal caves, and sweeping glacier views left us speechless—nothing we’d ever seen comes close!
Our guide was knowledgeable, upbeat, and kept us safe the whole way. Important tip: you need to be reasonably fit and sure-footed; the terrain can be tricky, and the guide’s pace is brisk at times 🫢. If you’re up for a bit of a workout, the payoff is incredible.
Everything was well organized, the equipment was top-notch, and the experience was unforgettable. We’d book it again in a heartbeat.
Highly recommended for anyone searching for a true Icelandic adventure.

A great tour with great guides! - This was an amazing experience that is a MUST DO on the south coast of Iceland. The guides were very informative and friendly, and seeing all the different parts of the glacier was super cool. The superjeeps are sick too! Be warned though, the walk up the glacier is INTENSE, even in good shape.

Exceeded expectations - spectacular - The walk on glacier exceeded our expectations. The glacier itself was spectacular and our guide provided us a lot of insights on the glacier which was very interesting to learn. I would highly recommend this trip.

My wife didn’t wear the... - My wife didn’t wear the right shoe but thanks for the guide to rent a shoe for her.

Ice exploration at its best ! - This was an exciting and well organized excursion with an expert guide. We enjoyed the activity and we learnd a great deal about glacier and iceland. The only thing on the minus side is the ride in the super jeeps which felt stuffed, but it was necessary.
