Discovering Syracuse: A Historical and Natural Adventure
Syracuse, Sicily, is a city that effortlessly blends the ancient with the natural, offering a unique experience for travelers seeking both history and adventure. As you step into this enchanting city, you’ll find yourself surrounded by the remnants of its glorious past, while the stunning natural landscapes invite you to explore and unwind.
Start your journey with the UNESCO Heritage Tour on the morning of May 17th. This private tour offers a deep dive into the rich history of Syracuse and the nearby Baroque city of Noto. With a private driver at your disposal, you’ll have the flexibility to explore at your own pace. Wander through the Parco Archeologico della Neapolis, where ancient ruins tell stories of a bygone era. As you stroll through the charming streets of Ortigia, you’ll be captivated by the beauty of the Cathedral “il Duomo” and the Aretusa Fountain. The tour also takes you to Noto, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its stunning Baroque architecture. A recent review from July 2019 highlights the exceptional experience:
Excellent shore excursion in Sicily - Tony was such a gem. He picked up me and my nine-year-old daughter at the cruise terminal and took us on a fantastic tour. It was horribly hot, but Tony drove us in as close as he could to all the things we wanted to see and when we kept trying to wiggle out of certain destinations, he found ways to make them accessible for us. He is absolutely lovely. He loves his island and he is dedicated to sharing all the beautiful destinations with his passengers. He kept suggesting little additions to the tour – and they blew our minds. Noto and Avila are amazing. So is Ortigia. Thank you, Tony, for being so patient and kind. We had so much fun with you.
Embracing the Sea: Ortigia Coast Tour
As the afternoon sun casts its golden glow over the city, it’s time to embark on a maritime adventure with the Ortigia Coast Tour. Available on both May 17th and 18th, this private boat tour offers a unique perspective of Syracuse’s coastline. With knowledgeable skippers guiding you, you’ll sail around the historic island of Ortigia, marveling at its palaces and chapels from the sea. The tour includes stops for swimming and snorkeling, allowing you to explore the wonders beneath the water’s surface.
The tour’s highlights include a visit to the Maniace Castle, where you can pause for a swim, and the Plemmirio area, known for its crystal-clear waters. A recent review from August 2024 captures the essence of this experience:
10/10 - We had the best time on our trip with Natale! He was sweet and hospitable, making sure we had plenty of time to relax and swim. Probably one of my favorite parts of our trip. While it’s a tad more expensive than group boat trips, I would say it’s well worth it. Between the space, the lack of having to jockey for seats, and the freedom to work with your skipper on timing of swimming and relaxing, the private tour surpassed our expectations. 10/10 experience!
