Tanah Lot Temple - In the Balinese language, Tanah Lot Temple translates to “Land [in the] Sea.” Situated in Tabanan, approximately 20 kilometers (12 miles) from Denpasar, the temple is perched on a large offshore rock that has been sculpted over time by the ocean tide. Each temple is positioned within sight of the next, creating a chain along the southwestern coast. Influenced by Hinduism, the temple is believed to be the creation of the esteemed 15th-century Hindu priest Danghyang Nirartha, playing a significant role in Balinese spiritualism and mythology.
