Imlil - Begin your trek from Marrakech, traveling through the Asni Valley to reach Imlil (1740m). From Imlil, proceed eastward and ascend to Tizi ‘n’ Tamaterte, situated at 2272m above sea level. The journey will lead you through fields of wheat and orchards filled with walnut, apple, and cherry trees, culminating in the village of Tamaterte.
Amgdoul - After passing through the village, a path ascends through pine and juniper forests to the Tizi, offering a magnificent view of the Imlil and Imnan Valley. From this vantage point, you can spot Berber villages nestled on the slopes and Jbel Oukaïmeden (‘Ouka’ to the locals), which stands at 3268m above sea level.
Spend the next hour traveling to the villages of Ouaneskra and then onward to Amghedoul at 2130m, where you can enjoy a picnic on the plateau.
Tachdirt - In the afternoon, continue hiking through the valley along mule trails until reaching Tachdirt, the oldest Berber village in the Toubkal Massif, located at 2291m among terraced slopes. Enjoy an overnight stay in Tachdirt at a gite d’etape (a Berber house with a hot shower). While dinner is being prepared, take the opportunity to explore the village and interact with the welcoming Berber villagers. You might observe their cooking methods, including how they prepare bread and soups, or how they construct their homes using pise, a blend of stone and mud.
Tachddirt - Iaabassene - Timichi
Timichi - Isghouarne - Agadir n’ait Boulmane - Setti Fadma
Setti-Fatma - After breakfast, embark on a 5 to 6-hour eastward hike down the valley. The valley, or ‘wadi’, is abundant with cornfields and orange groves, interlaced with streams descending from the upper slopes.
Pass through the villages of Isghouarne and Agadir n’Aït Boulmane to reach the end of the Ourika Valley and arrive at Setti Fadma, an ancient Berber village surrounded by waterfalls and nut trees. Enjoy a picnic stop just outside the village before a final half-hour hike to reconnect with the vehicle and return to Marrakech.
