Worth every yen! This is a must do tour when in Tokyo! - Asakusa is definitely a Tokyo neighborhood that is worth seeing, but it will be very overwhelming without a guide. Our guide, Haruo, made everything perfect for our group of four adults. It was easy to find him at the subway station. He took us immediately to the Asakusa tourist building which has an observatory to get an aerial view of the the neighborhood. It would be important to meet him on time because he was able to get us up in the observatory before it got too crowded. After, we meandered through the crowded street of shops leading up to the Senso-ji Buddhist Temple. Haruo was patient with us as we stopped in a few shops. He explained some of the local culinary treats, some of the cultural items that were being sold in the shops and more. If there was something that you had a question about, he was happy to answer it. Haruo explained all the interesting facts about the Senso-ji, but most importantly, how to be there in a respectful manner and also explained the important rituals since this is an active Temple. He helped us to purchase pendants for protection and more. We then went to the Shinto Shrine and learned about the religious practices there. After, he took us into an enclosed street that had a variety of shops and games for people to try. We then headed to a part of town to see a street that sells culinary ware. I was looking for a Japanese knife, so we went into a few shops and eventually I purchased a nice one. We went for a wonderful soba noodle lunch overlooking the river and then headed to the Tokyo Skytree. Haruo offered to purchase our tickets in advance (WHICH IS A MUST DO! IT WILL SAVE YOU AN HOUR at least on a busy day!) and explained everything we were seeing. (Also - if you buy a knife, you'll need to lock it up in a locker before heading up the Skytree). Hauro also helped us find our subway platform since the Skytree mall is very large and busy. We had an amazing day and learned so much!

Fun time in Asakusa with Macky! - We had a fun day with Mackey. He was very kind to myself and my elderly father. We took breaks when needed. He also taught us a lot about culture, history and the local area. I would love to have him again.

Great 1 Day Tour - We had a great time with Hinako! She helped us find good shopping spots and recommended great places to eat. We saw a lot in 1 day and it really helped us find our way in Tokyo. The tour had a good itinerary. I enjoyed the mix of sights and visiting small streets with local shopping.

A great day in Asakusa - Mike was a wonderful guide and it was a pleasure to spend my first full day in Tokyo with him. We are explored the local area in depth, had a few laughs and I really learnt about the history of the area as well as the modern life here. I would happily recommend to other tourists to the area. It’s a great way to familiarise yourself with this part of Tokyo and Mike was great. Thank you.

Ueno Park to Skytree with Asakusa in Between - Yuka (Suzuki) was our guide for this tour, and she did a fine job. She was knowledgeable about the areas we visited and her English skills were also pretty good! We used the local bus a couple of times to get around, and she escorted us to the Skytee which we appreciated. We saw some great sites, but I would suggest starting at Ueno Park, next to Senso ji, and ending up at Skytree. I think that's a more efficient route, and would reduce the amount of walking and/or time spent on the bus.

Tetsu - (otomo) A+ guide - This was my first trip and day in Japan. Tetsu is an enthusiastic guide who oriented my family to the neighborhood, shops, and Japanese culture, and was very knowledgeable about the temple and shrine. Tetsu advised that there was a huge annual parade a 20 minute subway ride away outside Asakusa, and asked if we were interested. We said yes. It was a huge religious festival with music and dancing. Tetsu is very caring - the tour was booked for 4 hours but he stayed with us longer to accompany us back to the tour starting point near our hotel which required three subway transfers. We are glad he did! And he gave us his email address and invited us to ask questions - even about our next destination - Koyoto.
