• Mt. Fuji Station - Elevation: At 3,776.24 meters (12,389 feet), Mount Fuji is Japan’s highest peak and an active volcano. It is the tallest mountain in Japan and the second-highest volcano on an island in Asia. Snow covers it for about five months annually. The last eruption occurred in 1707, and although a major earthquake in 2011 increased internal pressure, no eruption followed.

Climbing Season: The official climbing season is from early July to early September, when the weather is most favorable, and trails are open.

Visibility: Clear visibility of Mt. Fuji is around 70 to 80 days per year, though it can be obscured by clouds even on sunny days.

• Arakura Fuji Sengen Shrine - Known as the Chureito Pagoda, this famous Shinto shrine in Fujiyoshida, Yamanashi Prefecture, offers a stunning view of Mount Fuji. The shrine and its iconic pagoda create a picturesque scene, especially during cherry blossom season and autumn foliage.

The Chureito Pagoda, built in 1963, is part of the shrine complex and provides a vantage point to capture Mount Fuji’s beauty. Visitors climb 400 steps to reach the pagoda, where they can enjoy a breathtaking panorama of the sacred mountain and surrounding landscape.

The shrine is a place of worship and a popular spot for photography enthusiasts and nature lovers, offering a unique perspective of Japan’s iconic symbol, Mount Fuji.

• Chureito Pagoda - This five-storied pagoda on the mountainside overlooks Fujiyoshida City and Mount Fuji. Built as a peace memorial in 1963, it is nearly 400 steps up from the shrine’s main buildings. The best time to visit is early morning, regardless of the season. Scenic viewpoints around the city offer majestic views of Mt. Fuji.

• Lake Kawaguchiko - Lake Kawaguchiko (河口湖) is the most accessible of the Fuji Five Lakes, with train and direct bus connections to Tokyo. A hot spring resort town with various attractions and views of Mount Fuji is located at the lake’s eastern end, while the northern and western shores remain mostly undeveloped.

The best views of Mount Fuji are from the lake’s northern shores, especially during cherry blossom season in mid-April and autumn colors in early November. The seaside promenade near the Kawaguchiko Music Forest is ideal for cherry blossoms, while the “Momiji Tunnel” offers stunning autumn colors.

• Oishi Park - This park offers an amazing view of Mount Fuji and features plenty of seasonal flowers, with lavender in mid-June being a crowd favorite. It also has a play area for children.

• Mt. Fuji Panoramic Ropeway - (OPTIONAL) The Mount Fuji Panoramic Ropeway (富士山パノラマロープウェイ) ascends 400 meters from Lake Kawaguchiko’s eastern shore to an observation deck near Mount Tenjo’s peak. From over 1000 meters above sea level, visitors enjoy panoramic views of the lake and Mount Fuji. Ropeway charges are not included in the package.

• Fuji-Honcho Main Street - Known as Honcho Street or Hikawa Clock Shop Street in Fujiyoshida City, this area is famous for its “Stairway to Fuji” photo opportunity, where the mountain is framed by retro buildings, lanterns, and wires. Its history as a textile industry center has left a unique blend of traditional architecture and modern life. The street’s photogenic qualities have made it a viral social media sensation.

• Oshino Hakkai - Oshino Hakkai (忍野八海) consists of eight ponds in Oshino, a village in the Fuji Five Lake region. These ponds are fed by snowmelt from Mount Fuji, filtering through lava layers for over 80 years, resulting in clear spring water revered by locals.

Visitors can drink the cool water directly from one pond. The ponds, with interesting plant life and large fish, have become tourist attractions. Despite crowds, they maintain a pleasant atmosphere if you don’t expect untouched nature.

• Kitaguchi Hongu Fuji Sengen Jinja Shrine - This prominent Shinto shrine in Fujiyoshida, Yamanashi Prefecture, is historically significant and associated with Mount Fuji, a sacred mountain in Japanese culture. Many pilgrims begin their ascent of Mount Fuji from this shrine.

It’s a place for prayers for a safe and successful climb. The shrine hosts various festivals and ceremonies throughout the year, serving as a cultural and spiritual hub in the region.
