Wonderful day well cared for! - Very informative excursion, well provided by a friendly guide. Also very suitable for children. A quiet place where you can take good pictures, the second place was a bit busier but had more amenities. Lovely walk.

Great and relaxed tour with guide, which conveys a lot of interesting facts in English and Japanese - Visiting Shirakawago and Gokoyama Ainokura with this tour is highly recommended. Unlike regular bus rides, you have a reserved seat and get a lot of interesting information. Our guide spoke excellent English. The time in Gokoyama could have been a little longer for my taste. But the extra charge is worth it. The bus driver drove very confidently.

Great Tour for Historical Villages - The bus station is easy to find and negotiate. They had our tickets at the counter waiting for us (group of 10). The buses were comfortable and the guide was very helpful and informative. The amount of time at each village was enough to get a good grasp of each. We could have used a bit more time at Shirakagwago so we could get to the overlook. You have to be moving to see the cultural heritage portion, the main part of town and eat lunch (which was very good). There was not enough time to get to the overlook or the famous 3 homes on the far side of town. You can buy tickets for this tour (and other area tours) at the station but if it's sold out you are out of luck. If it is high season I would buy them ahead of time. Our tour was about 60% full. Make sure your check out the large trout in the large gutter in the middle of town.

It’s a bus driving you and that is ok. - Smooth comfortable ride. The “guide” gives info in both Japanese and English. The info relates to what there is to do and not about the area. A tiny bit about the area. This is a bus taking you there and back. We were done with the second location within a hour, so too much time, but we choose to not do the museums there (repeat of the first place and also the heritage museum) or the observation point. The observation point would take an hour. We also brought our own lunch and ate by the river.
