Fun temple sight seeing with lunch! - So much to see and do! Started with hotel pickup and greeting from our tour guide, Donna. She did an amazing job staying on point with each stop. Went from Bangkok on bus to Ayutthaya to visit the temples. Short stop after at some other temples then markets. Final ride was on a luxurious river boat with lunch included. Adventure took the whole day and was well worth it. Highly recommended if you want a trip outside of Bangkok to see the temples.

Great way to see Ayutthaya and return to Bangkok - Very nice tour to see Ayutthaya temples and sites. We drove out to site, during the drive our guide, Donna, provided information about the history and area. We had three stops. Donna provided information at each site and then provided some free time. At each stop, the information about restrooms was always shared which was greatly appreciated! After the sites, we then drove to our cruise boat for a 2.5 river cruise back to Bangkok. The buffet lunch was great with several options. Donna provided more information along the river. A really great tour and experience. Donna was fabulous!

Glimpse The Rich History of Thailand - I wanted a guided tour of Thailand's historic Ayutthaya and this package from operator Tour East Thailand fit the bill perfectly. I had to change hotels after booking this tour and, through Viator's messaging system, they accommodated this seamlessly, with punctual hotel pickup by van, to get to the bus at its central location from where the tour embarks. Our English-speaking tour guide DONNA was terrific. She provided a personable, interesting tour commentary, including Thai history, and facts about the Ayutthaya temples we visited, all with warmth and good humour. At each of the 3 temple sites visited, Donna provided a walking tour segment and gave us "free time" to wander about the locations and partake in photo ops. The almost 700 year old temples are truly magnificent and historic. A word of caution: Thais are rightly passionate about their Buddhist traditions and foreign tourists need to accord proper respect. We witnessed enforcement at the Temple of the rule on taking photos with Buddha's image: the picture image must have the Buddha seen at a higher level than the individual. Admonishments by shouts and whistles from Temple staff (and other Thais) await violaters! The Chao Phraya River cruise back to central Bangkok from Ayutthaya featured a lunch buffet with a good selection of dishes to suit most tastes. Donna provided informative commentary along the way and this leisurely cruise was a nice way to finish the tour. If you're interested in seeing the main Ayutthaya temples this package is a good way to do it, particularly if you can have Donna as your guide. Highly recommended!

Good but will not do it again - Pick up was way too early. We went on a minibus to go to a bigger bus. We waited 30min in the big bus for other people to arrive. The temples were pretty but maybe too much free time on site and not enough explanation about the life in the temple etc. Food on the cruise was good, just the cruise was too long.. to be fair only the last 40min was worth it ( more than 3h cruise).

Ayutthaya is a great stop for anyone that loves ancient history! - Ayutthaya is a great stop for anyone that loves ancient history! It was a bit difficult to find the tour as there are multiple tour groups leaving from the River City building, but our guide "Donna" had things under control and let us know exactly what to expect. We even had a little time to grab snacks before the bus left. Our big tour bus only had about a dozen people and Donna was the star, clearly she is a seasoned professional, full of information and jokes, she made sure we had a great day! The stops at Ayutthaya were incredible! I could have spent all day there, but there is just too much to see... Donna knew exactly what to share and was extremely informative. Just the right amount of freetime to explore on our own too. Everything about this part of the tour was exceptional! However, the boat ride back to Bangkok was lackluster... it's decent and there was plenty of food, but just wasn't anything special, the same as any other Mekong river cruise (if you haven't done one before, then maybe this is for you). The end had nice views of Bangkok, but you can also see those from a long tail boat or water taxi in the city. In summary, Ayutthaya and Donna were great, but next time I'd skip the river cruise.

Almost 10 hours lost for a 2 hour tour - If you like the airport experience where you wait an hour before boarding, then this is the experience for you. We got picked up from our hotel at 6:30, and we did t hit the road until almost 9:00. It was a 1.5 hour drive to Ayuthaya, Which is to be expected. The van has a speaker system that broadcasts static, which I wished Donna the guide would just turn off. We could hear her just fine. The site visits were nice. Donna was kind to feed the stray dogs. She was lovely and knowledgeable. However, the tour itself lasted really shorter than the time we spent waiting and on the road. We had lunch included and this was miserable in terms of waiting. We traveled an hour to get to the pier. We waited an hour on the Pearl cruise boat before we left the pier. The lunch was fine. Water was included. But the cruise back was way too long. From noon until 4:45. Overall, I wish I could have this time back. I recommend doing the site visit without the cruise back. Or, taking a Grab (Thai uber or some kind of song private driver) and going to the sites and doing this on your own time. Really wasted 6:30 am until 16:45 (4:45 Pm) to do a two hour tour of Ayuthaya. This was almost a 10 hour commitment for really 2 hours of experience. The rest was waiting time.
