Great activity/guide - Great introduction to sled dogs! Rohn was a great tour guide and full of information. Got to take a walk with the dogs and had all of our questions answered. Got some quality time with the puppies as well. Great activity if you’re looking for a real piece of Alaska. Highly recommended!!

An incredible experience - Absolutely unforgettable! Our family had the most incredible experience on this dog sledding kennel tour. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the family who runs the operation—you can feel their passion and love for the dogs in everything they do.
The tour was not only exciting but deeply informative. We learned all about the history of dog sledding, the care and training of the dogs, and the incredible dedication it takes to run a kennel like this, and even the Iditarod. The owners are preparing to run again in 26! The highlight however, was meeting the dogs themselves! Every single dog was full of personality and clearly adored by the family. And the puppies—oh, the puppies! Getting to snuggle with them was a dream come true for all of us, especially the kids.
This wasn’t just a tourist stop; it felt like being invited into someone’s home and heart. We left feeling inspired, educated, and grateful for the experience. If you’re anywhere near this place, do not miss it. It’s the kind of adventure that stays with you long after it’s over.

Don’t miss this! - My family and I (5 adults) visited the sled dog kennels and we all loved it. We were greeted very enthusiastically by all the dogs. Initially we were outside the fenced area with all the kennels. We then went on a walk with a small group of dogs and we got to see them running full out, having a great time on a beautiful sunny day. Then we got to go through the fence into the kennel area. Each dog has its own kennel and its own long lead so it can move around. I am hesitant about strong enthusiastic dogs who like to jump, and I could enjoy being in the kennel area in spots where the dogs couldn’t reach me. On the other hand my dog loving family members had plenty of interaction with the dogs. Along the way Rohn and Mikayla answered all our questions and gave us in depth information about the dogs and their care and training. After spending time in the kennels we went into another area with just one dog and Rohn showed us how the dog is outfitted for a race. He also described how the Iditarod in particular is organized and how the dogs are cared for by the musher. Rohn has taken a team on the Iditarod a number of times and he is preparing to participate again this year. After that part of the tour - puppies!! We were taken to a separate kennel area with a mom and 8 six week old puppies. We were allowed to play with and hold the puppies (while seated). Rohn was so informative and knowledgeable and he was very generous with his time. Members of my group who interacted closely with the dogs in the kennel area got pretty dirty due to the enthusiasm of the dogs. But it was a great experience and a little dirt was no problem. If you or any of your group are dog lovers you must book this experience

Great place - Rone and his wife are great people. Very welcoming and eager to answer your questions. You can see they truly enjoy the lifestyle of running sled dogs. This is a mom and pop shop. I had questions before showing up and they answered the phone. It wasn't some answering service or automated system. I plan to take advantage of the other adventures they offer there in the future

Dog lovers will love! - We really enjoyed our time at Susitna Sled Dog. The owners are very friendly and knowledgeable. They answered all our questions about raising and racing dog sleds. The off-leash walk through the woods with 7 of their 55 dogs was so much fun. We also got a lot of time to walk through and pet all the adult dogs. Then we got to meet the three-day-old puppies! As advertised, the dogs will jump up to meet you but they are gentle and just love attention.

Enjoyable Tour of Sled Dog Kennel and the Dogsledding Life - A fun and informative time, interacting with dozens of friendly and fun sled dogs, and learning about the intricacies of competitive dogsled racing. Rohn and Alyssa were welcoming hosts who shared deep insights the business of raising, training and competing with, their dogs. Even in summer, this was an offbeat but wonderful excursion to see and learn more about an important part of Alaskan life.

We LOVED getting to meet... - We LOVED getting to meet all the dogs and going on a walk with them. We got to see them follow commands and how they all spread out yet come right back to the leader. They explained so much to us about the make up of the sled teams how the dogs are trained and even showed us the sled and all the equipment used. Our children got to play with the dogs and pet so many of them. They were all happy and friendly as can be. We would highly recommend this experience to any animal lover out there. Our hosts were very gracious and allowed us to see their property ask all the questions we wanted and to get a much butter understanding of the dog sled world.

Loved the dogs, so sweet! - My husband spent alot of time listening to how things are handled, all I wanted to do is hang with the dogs! Only bad thing was it had rained & was sooo muddy so missed petting them all!! We were prepared to get muddy & we did! Several were left off of the leashes to first run around crazily & pee but most came back to get some pats! Saw how the dogs are hooked up to sleds & also brought some puppies in the little shed to play with. I would not go again on a muddy day…it’s gotta be dry! Very hospitable people trying to make a living!
