You might even catch a glimpse of the elusive pademelons (small rainforest wallabies).
- Tamborine Mountain Glow Worm Caves - Glow worms naturally illuminate at night, but how can they be seen during the day? Visit the award-winning Cedar Creek Glow Worm Caves, specially designed to simulate nighttime conditions, allowing thousands of glow worms to thrive. It’s the best way to experience them!
- Tamborine Mountain - While at Tamborine, enjoy free time at the renowned Gallery Walk, Queensland’s top Arts and Craft district. Discover a diverse array of clothing, jewelry, art galleries, fudge and sweet shops, wine tasting venues, boutique breweries, and more.
- Hang Glider Launch and Lookout - Hang Gliders Tamborine Mountain offers one of the most stunning lookout points on the mountain. Situated high on the western escarpment near Main Western Road, this open launch site provides expansive views across the Scenic Rim and towards the Great Dividing Range.
On days with favorable conditions, the sky is filled with hang gliders and paragliders as they take off, soar, and glide on the mountain thermals. Watching these colorful wings float silently above the valley, against a backdrop of rolling hills and vast skies, is truly unforgettable.
Whether you’re here for the thrill of the launch or to enjoy the views, this is one of Tamborine’s most spectacular spots, cherished by both locals and visitors.
- Natural Bridge - While visiting Springbrook National Park, travel through the Numinbah Valley with its valleys, escarpments, and forests to reach the Natural Bridge Section. Enjoy an hour-long walk through the magnificent rainforest to Cave Creek, where you’ll witness the waterfall cascading into the cave below.
- Hinze Dam - Hinze Dam serves as a vital water source and a wildlife sanctuary. Around the lake and in the surrounding bushland, kangaroos and wallabies can often be seen grazing. Koalas are also present, typically high in the eucalyptus trees, either resting or moving slowly from branch to branch. The forests are home to possums, bandicoots, and occasionally echidnas.
The area is rich in birdlife, with eagles soaring above, black swans and cormorants gliding across the lake, and colorful lorikeets and king parrots in the treetops. The dam attracts various waterbirds, including pelicans, herons, and ducks.
Reptiles are part of the ecosystem too, with lizards basking on rocks and turtles resting along the lake’s edges. At night, the area comes alive with frogs and the sounds of nocturnal animals echoing through the forest.
