Anwar the Best Tour Guide - First of all we paid for a private tour but there was another couple with us. The other couple said they also were supposed to be a private tour so she called the tour and got some of type of credit for that. We didn't and should have automatically been issued some type of credit by the company. Now that's out of the way, the tour was awesome. The scenery and history told to us by our guide Anwar was great. Anwar was very informative, knowledgeable, and took excellent care of us. I would recommend Anwar to any future travelers to your country.

HARDLY A WHOLE DAY TRIP 0930 - 1330! - We expected a large vehicle with aircon. What we got was a Dacia small car with open windows for airflow. We expected to meet our guide directly from our ship at its berth but eventually found out that he had waited with sign in the terminal situated about 800 metres away. The car had not authority to access the ship - a major setback since walking distances cause some discomfort. We were not allowed to walk portside but were fortunate that the ship shuttle bus agreed to take us to the port gate which is where we expected to meet the guide. We were thus 45 minutes late starting the tour. Anwar was very friendly but spoke very quickly and it was not always easy to hear all that he said. We did visit the highlighted places details for the tour excluding the camel ride which we declined. The number of stops were limited to 4 - a park near the palace, Cap Spartel, and Caves of Hercules and then to the high entry gate of the Medina where we bade farewell to our driver expecting to see him again after the Medina and began the long and tiring walk through the streets of the Medina down to the square where we had a welcome drink in a small street cafe. No trip to Synagogue. By 1300 I think we had had enough, bade farewell at the cafe to Anwar who was apparently keen to make his way to the Mosque for midday prayers, leaving us to find our own way back to the port and the ship. Fortunately the cruise shuttle bus departure point was fairly near and we thus returned there by 2.30. Hardly a whole day trip as advertised and not as listed in the itinerary nor leisurly stops! We were supplied with a bottle of water in the car and there was no opportunity to take refreshments anywhere en route. All in all seemed rushed and did not relate to overall itinerary listed below. Take your tour alone is better - We expected a lot from this visit but we were disappointed, the guide was in a hurry he walked alone in front , there are things we did not do and I find that for the price per person it is extremely expensive, moreover for the return we had to ask the driver to take us home because otherwise we had to return by taxi while the round trip pickup was included. We had more fun the next day visiting alone than with the guide.

Stay away from this company! - First off. Never was contacted by them. Had to search for their number to confirm my booking which was less than 12 hours away. Then when finally getting in touch the first wanted to charge me an extra $80 since I was a solo traveling and clearly has price for one. I got him down to $50. Just for him to show up. When they came I refused to pay any extra and already paid plenty. We were not in a private car but a taxi and went through things quickly saw the lighthouse from afar. The camel ride was NOT on the beach but on a cliff off the side of the road and cause I was alone maybe 10 min worth cause I assume I being alone wasn’t worth more. Guide did try to take me to shops of his friends to make purchases but I didn’t need anything. Time I wanted to take more pics he quickly made me leave. When we got to the cave the $5 to get in he took care of but to see the cave opening which was supposed to be to be included I have to pay the $8 to get in. When lunch came around he took off as soon as I sat down. What was suppose to be a full day 6-7 hours was maybe 3. I even tipped him $20 but could tell he was expecting the extra money and not happy with the situation even tho I tried to make conversation and apologize for their mistake. I know it’s about haggling here in Morocco and some have gotten me maybe a lot and a few extra bucks I assume they need more than I do to go into a battling war. But booking something with a listed price then refusing to honor it with no time to book another or refund within time is just unacceptable. I could have done these things on my own and paid 1/3 of the price without feeling it was my fault and I didn’t deserve a magical day. DO NOT EVER BOOK WITH THEM. I was kind leaving a tip even a generous one. And lunch was the worst I had in all of Morocco with bad service

Refund by co when we refused adding others - Anwar wanted to add 2 more people to our private tour. It was also set at 7:00 am, from time choices, but we proposed starting at 9:00 like most other tours. Anwar also insisted starting at 10:00 (probably to accommodate the 2 additional people he wanted to add to our private tour). He offered lunch and a basic breakfast to get us to forgo the private tour. Obviously did not offer refunding a good portion of the cost. We told him that we just wanted our private tour beginning at 9:00. Rather than further discussing this, he cancelled the reservation for tomorrow morning. There was only 1 other tour listed that was comparable at TWICE the cost. Luckily it still had openings for the last minute. I booked this tour 6 MONTHS ago. Never heard from this company until just after 5:00 pm the evening before the tour, most likely because there is a practice of adding additional customers at the last minute. Not worth booking. Cancellations the night before the event can severely impact time spent in Tangere. BY 10:00 pm I found the last comparable tour at TWICE the cost. Good thing I checked my email late. He cancelled at 8:06 pm, I would never have known my reservation was cancelled and money refunded by this company had I not checked. I was led to believe the tour was a go for tomorrow.

DO NOT RECOMMEND - Buyer Beware - this tour is a scam! We booked a private tour for a party of 4. Just before our tour date Amwar informed us that there will be others from the cruise ship joining us. Since it was such short notice we did not have time to look for other options so we decided to take the tour even though we were unsuccessful in convincing Amwar to honor the private tour that we booked. In hindsight the better decision would have been to stay on the ship. Yes, it was that bad. Our experience is similar to the other 1 star reviews. We were picked up 20 minutes late. We didn't have a tour guide, he was just a guy driving us to various places with little to no communication on any type of info about Morocco. At each destination Amwar would spend a couple of minutes with us (he was bouncing back and forth between 3 or 4 groups of people), or we would be passed off to someone else who also did not provide any real information on what we were looking at. We went to some weird "Hercules cave" replica that we had to pay some guy a euro to enter. We did have an authentic Moroccan lunch that was nice which was supposed to be followed with a city tour. We were passed off to another guy for this part of the tour and yes I am purposely not calling them a tour guide because they were not. The "City" tour was basically being dragged around to the markets around the ship port and being pressured to buy stuff. We also experienced the rug shop where Muhammad Ali layed out rug after rug. The reason I call this a scam is because the misleading and dishonest behavior was intentional. Items that they listed in the tour package such as water, WiFi and yes private did not happen. We also Putting that all aside it was the worst tour we have ever taken.

Will not be what you think it is - Buyer beware…if you are on a cruise ship and the description says Full Day Private Tour, then I am sorry, this guy is going to get you. Amwar, who is the guide will message you a couple days before the tour to tell you he has to book more because of the ship. I said absolutely not but he insisted that it is too late. Not much you can do 2 days prior to a port to try and find another trip, so we stayed on this one and braced ourselves for the worst. It started out with the driver, who was late, picked us up at the port mosque. He barely spoke any English and began to transport our group of 4 and a group of 3 ladies. Come to find out he was not even a guide but just a driver. He did not give any history or information about Tangier or Morocco for that matter the entire time he was driving. He drove us to a sightseeing picture spot where we met Amwar, who was bouncing back and forth between his 3 groups of people that he booked. Very rushed, and again barely any information. After this we went to a camel ride, which I had stated to the tour guide prior to booking this trip to please skip. As you can guess, since the tour was not private, he still took us on the ride. The views were magnificent and that’s about it. The camels are kept in poor condition which was also a disappointment to see. We were then taken to the “Hercules cave”. The ladies wanted some water, but there wasn’t any on the tour which clearly stated in the description that there would be. We got hustled into this “cave” that for some reason we had to pay 1 euro to some sort of cave master. Once inside, it was a bunch of hand painted dolls and people playing music…a faux cave. My group saw my frustrations as this was my breaking point. The other “guide” we got handed off to never took us to the actual cave that was below this faux cave. After the cave we went to an authentic Moroccan meal at a small place, which was the highlight of the day. Great food for a decent price. Once lunch was completed, Amwar handed us off to another “guide” to walk us around the downtown area and markets. This guy gave us no information again and just shuffled us to particular shops of his “family”. Towards the end of the tour, we were taken to this rug shop where we were sat down by Muhammad Ali and shown all the handmade rugs. It was by far the most awkward situation we had all day. It was almost as if you could not leave until he was done given his presentation. Once we were able to leave, the group was shuffled toward the cruise port. In closing, a disaster of a day. Again, steer clear of this tour and Amwar.

WE DO NOT RECOMMEND - Booked a private tour but received a message the day before that there were many reservations for the cruise ship. The guy didn’t ask if it was okay to put us in a group, he told me we were going in a small group. Needless to say all 12 of us that booked private tours ended up together. They gave different people different meeting times so we ended up waiting an hour just to start. The tour itself was not impressive. We wouldn’t do it again. Basically we stopped a few places to take pictures. More than anything, we were upset that we paid for one thing and got another- and technically we were pressured into it. And they still made us pay full price. They waited until after the 24 hour mark to notify us of the group.

Misleading and intimidating. - We were told we could get picked up at the ship but weren’t and had to scramble to get to the meeting point. The guide said it wasn’t his problem. We were told we were going to sites that we didn’t go to (camels on the beach was actually camels in a parking lot sort of near the beach, and Hercules Cave was instead a tourist trap next door with monkeys in diapers and folly performances). The “authentic market” at the end was in fact a group run high pressure sit down in to buy carpets. It wasn’t warm, friendly, or accurate on site visits. Hard “no” on recommending to anyone.
