Friendly helpful driver and guides, but didn’t get our English speaking guide - We saw a lot and the driver and guides were very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, we contracted for a private tour with an English speaking guide, and it just didn’t happen. Apparently there was a paperwork problem so our guide had to go to the police station. Everyone was apologetic and the driver Mehdi did a great job with his limited English of trying to explain what he was showing us. The beach, overlooks, and camel ride were wonderful. Stunning scenery. Hercules Cave was disappointing: The tickets didn’t get us into Hercules cave, but the cave d’arts, which is basically a themed gift shop. (It’s pretty funny in retrospect.) Once we got to the Medina, we met our new guide, who was very enthusiastic, kind, and helpful, but his English wasn’t that strong and he was young and just didn’t have the ability yet to tell us the stories about the area’s history and culture one would expect from a tour. He took us through the lovely blue Chefchaouen section, which was very charming. We couldn’t get in the Kasbah since there were so many tourists in from the ship that day, which made me wonder if we should have booked a tour through the cruise. We saw but didn’t go in any other museums or churches. The restaurant he took us to provided a set menu of traditional Moroccan food for 20 euros/person - it was a pretty place and good to try various foods, though we didn’t love the main dishes. All in all, we saw a lot, everyone was welcoming and I think did their best, and it was very memorable, but not what we expected based on the services advertised. I read a lot of reviews before booking this tour, and seems like this problem happens across all tour operators. So I guess buyer beware in Tangier and try to go in knowing it’ll be an adventure, even if not the one you think you’re getting!
