Momella Gate (1400 m) - Miriakamba Hut (2500 m)
Mount Meru - Upon arriving at Jevas Hotel in Arusha, guests will be transported to Momella Gate at Arusha National Park. Here, porters will organize and pack belongings for the hike, and the guide will assist with registration at the Tanzania National Park Authority. The ascent in Arusha National Park begins with an armed ranger and expert mountain guides. The initial hike resembles a walking safari, with opportunities to see giraffes, zebras, antelope, buffalo, and possibly elephants along the trail. The hike passes the Ngarenanyuki River and a beautiful waterfall at the base of Mt. Meru. Upon reaching Miriakamba Hut (2500m), a chef will prepare a hot dinner and provide hot water for washing. Guests can then enjoy the stunning sunset and an overnight stay.
From Miriakamba Hut to Saddle Hut
Mount Meru - After breakfast, the climb continues up a steep path along the ridge. Along the way, there may be sightings of various species! The trail offers breathtaking views of the Meru Crater and the Ash Cone. Upon reaching the camp, there is an option to hike up Little Meru (3,820 m) with the guide for better acclimatization. An early dinner will be served to ensure ample rest before the midnight summit attempt.
Summitting and Descend to Momella Gate
Mount Meru - The ascent begins at midnight, featuring a challenging climb to Rhino Point at 3,800 meters, continuing to Cobra Point at 4,350 meters, and culminating at Meru Peak, which stands at 4,562 meters, offering stunning views of Kilimanjaro. The return journey to Rhino Point is one of the most thrilling and scenic walks in Africa. After lunch and a short rest at Saddle Hut, the trek continues downward to Momella Gate. The descent is a time for celebration, with certificates issued by the Tanzania National Parks, concluding with a drop-off at Arusha Town.
