Kilimanjaro Region - Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, the professional team will warmly welcome travelers to Tanzania and transport them to their hotel in either the Kilimanjaro or Arusha region, marking the beginning of their journey to the roof of Africa! After checking into the hotel and enjoying a brief rest, a pre-trek briefing will be provided in the late afternoon by the staff (guide) to outline the itinerary, safety measures, tips for a successful Kilimanjaro summit, and to check gear and expectations for the trek. This evening offers the opportunity to meet the climbing crew before enjoying a restful night in preparation for the adventure ahead. Depending on the travelers’ preferences, a hotel will be booked in Moshi town (mid-range accommodation) for easy access to the national park gate the following day.

HIGH-ALTITUDE DROP OFF DESTINATIONS AND TREKKING TO MTI MKUBWA CAMP (2,780m)

Mount Kilimanjaro - The guide and mountain support crew will arrive at the hotel to meet the travelers, introduce the crew, and provide another briefing. Travelers will be driven from the hotel to Lendorossi gate (2,200m). After a quick registration with the rescue service and obtaining a permit, the trek begins with a gentle walk through the lush rainforest. The trail meanders through this vibrant ecosystem, offering chances to spot monkeys, birds, and occasionally exotic plants (not guaranteed). The cool, refreshing air and rich greenery enhance the experience. Upon reaching camp, the professional mountain crew will prepare everything necessary, set up tents, and cook dinner. Due to a reduction in breathing patterns while sleeping, the body receives less oxygen than during the day. It’s important to pay attention to one’s body and inform the guide if any symptoms of altitude sickness occur.

TREKKING FROM MTI MKUBWA CAMP (2,780m) TO SHIRA 2 CAMP (3,850m)

Kilimanjaro National Park - After breakfast, the trek continues, leaving the rainforest behind and ascending through an open landscape of grasses, wildflowers, and striking volcanic rock formations, entering the Moorland zone. This trek is not difficult, allowing for enjoyment of spectacular views of Africa and the surrounding areas. Upon reaching camp, travelers will be greeted by the cooler air of the alpine zone and a panoramic view of the majestic Shira plateau. Shira 2 camp is the best place on the trip to see Mount Meru (the fifth highest peak in Africa). Along the way, travelers can learn about local Tanzanian culture with the local guides through storytelling and Tanzanian songs to keep motivation high for the Kilimanjaro hike. Lunch will be provided on the way, and upon arrival, the camp and a warm dinner will be prepared by the experienced mountain crew.

TREKKING FROM SHIRA 2 CAMP (3,850m) TO THE LAVA TOWER AND DESCENT TO BARRANCO CAMP (3,960m)

Mount Kilimanjaro - After breakfast, the trek departs from Shira 2 camp (3,900m) for one of the most scenic days. The day begins by crossing the Shira plateau, offering panoramic views of the surrounding valleys and the towering Kilimanjaro glaciers in the distance. As the climb progresses, travelers reach Lava Tower (4,630m), a massive rock formation with awe-inspiring views. From here, the trail descends to Barranco camp (3,960m), aiding acclimatization by spending time at this slightly lower altitude before the summit push. If any participant feels unwell, the group may avoid passing the Lava Tower and adjust the route. Upon arrival at Barranco camp, the mountain crew will set up camp and welcome travelers for dinner and an overnight stay.

TREKKING FROM BARRANCO CAMP (3,960m) TO KARANGA CAMP (4,035m)

Mount Kilimanjaro - It is recommended to leave the camp early to avoid crowds from other groups. After an early breakfast on day 4, the trek focuses on tackling the iconic Barranco wall, a steep but non-technical climb through rocky sections and narrow paths. There is no need to worry, as the guides are experts at setting an optimal pace for the group. As the ascent progresses, stunning views of Kilimanjaro’s summit reward the effort, continuing toward Karanga camp (4,035m). The landscape is an alpine desert, with rocky terrain and striking mountain views. Once at camp, travelers can relax, enjoy a hot lunch, and savor the quiet atmosphere of this isolated site.

TREKKING FROM KARANGA CAMP (4,035m) TO BARAFU CAMP (4,640m)

Mount Kilimanjaro - On day 5, after breakfast, the trek continues from Karanga to Barafu camp, the final camp before the summit attempt. The trail is steep, but the views are breathtaking, with Kilimanjaro’s glaciers towering overhead. The hike to Barafu camp covers about 4km with an elevation gain of 605 meters. As camp is reached, excitement builds in preparation for the summit ascent. At Barafu camp, travelers will rest and have an early dinner in preparation for the midnight departure toward Uhuru peak the following day. This night at Barafu camp is filled with anticipation, as the final stretch to the summit looms large.

BARAFU CAMP (4,640m) TO UHURU PEAK (5,895m/ 19,340ft) & DESCENT TO MWEKA CAMP (3,080m) OR MILLENNIUM CAMP (3,820m)

Mount Kilimanjaro - The culmination of the journey: Day 6 is the summit day, beginning at midnight with the ascent toward Uhuru peak (5,895m), the roof of Africa. The trail is challenging with steep sections, but the climb is relatively straightforward, with the high altitude being the most demanding aspect. For added safety, each pair of climbers will have a personal guide. After 6-8 hours of hiking, the summit is reached, offering breathtaking views and immense satisfaction at standing at the highest point in Africa. After enjoying the summit, the descent begins through the alpine desert. Upon arriving at camp, travelers can celebrate their achievement. Note that more than 90% of accidents occur during the descent, so it’s important to pay attention to footing, but the guides will ensure safety.

Hiking time: 6-7 hours to summit and 5-6 hours to Mweka camp or Millennium Camp, depending on ascent and descent timing.

DESCENT FROM MWEKA CAMP (3,080m) TO MWEKA GATE (1,640m) TO THE HOTEL

Mount Kilimanjaro - On the final day of the trek, the descent from Mweka camp to Mweka gate marks the official end of the Kilimanjaro journey. The descent is gradual, passing through lush rainforest filled with vibrant flora and fauna. Upon reaching Mweka gate, travelers will receive certificates of achievement, recognizing their success in conquering Kilimanjaro. Afterward, they will be transferred back to the hotel for a celebratory meal and a chance to reflect on the incredible experience. Travelers will meet their driver for the transfer from Kilimanjaro to Arusha, with the drive taking approximately 3 hours.

DEPARTURE

Arusha - On the final day, depending on the flight schedule, the company offers a local activity and cultural tourism experience with a local and experienced guide. Once an activity is booked, the operator will highlight popular activities, offered at no additional cost to clients who climbed Kilimanjaro with the company. After a short activity, lasting 2-5 hours, travelers will be transferred to the airport. (The airport transfer depends on the flight time.)

Reaching the Roof of Africa with Tanzania Songbirds Safaris - Trekking Kilimanjaro had always been a dream, but nothing could have prepared me for the experience of those 7 days on the Lemosho Route. It was challenging, yes—but also utterly transformative. What made it all the more memorable was my guide, Denis, whose quiet strength and calm leadership helped turn the mountain into something conquerable. From the lush rainforest trails at Londorossi Gate to the alpine deserts above Shira Plateau, every day felt like stepping into a different world. The Lemosho route’s slower pace gave our small group time to acclimatize and really take in the surroundings—endless sky, the crunch of volcanic rock underfoot, and the surreal stillness of the high-altitude landscape. But it was summit night that truly defined the journey. We set out under a sky scattered with stars, bundled in layers, breaths short and heavy. The cold seeped into everything. There were moments when I thought about turning back. But Denis kept us moving, checking in quietly but firmly, reading our exhaustion better than we could ourselves. He seemed to know exactly when to push, when to pause, and when to simply say, “You’re stronger than you think.” At Stella Point, as the first light of dawn began to break, I cried. And when we finally stood at Uhuru Peak, the world spread out beneath us, it felt like something far greater than just reaching a summit—it was a return to self, to resilience, to belief. Descending felt like coming down from another planet. And though my legs were shot and my lips cracked from the altitude, I couldn’t stop smiling. Trekking Kilimanjaro via Lemosho was everything I’d hoped for—and more. But it was Denis who turned it into a life experience, not just a mountain. If you ever get the chance, go. And if you can, go with Denis. You’ll understand why the summit is only part of the story.

Songbirds made my dream come true - It's truly a once in a lifetime experience with this local and beat company that operates Kilimanjaro climb, I'm so glad to choose this company and it's one of the decisions I made that I will never regret. My daughter and I planned Kilimanjaro for a long time and finally we met the best team led by our great guide James who was passionate about Kilimanjaro and Tanzania, James h is a motivational guide who makes sure you will reach Uhuru peak, the delicious food we had in the mountain make our energy of conquer Kili and thanks so much for the best chef Rashidi. Our Porters are an amazing team that helped us a lot. In short and summary of great service we had with Songbirds, I recommend this local company for anyone who are looking for Kilimanjaro trek.

Conquering Kilimanjaro with heart and Guidance from David & Arnold. - Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro via the Lemosho route was truly the adventure of a lifetime, and I owe so much of that experience to the outstanding team at Tanzania Songbirds Safaris. From day one, our guides David and Arnold made us feel completely at ease with their professionalism, warmth, and deep knowledge of the mountain. The Lemosho route was stunning — remote and scenic, with each day offering a different landscape, from lush rainforest to alpine desert to the snow-capped summit. David and Arnold were more than just guides — they were motivators, problem-solvers, and friends. They checked our health twice a day, adjusted our pace to keep everyone safe, and never stopped encouraging us. On summit night, when the altitude really hit, it was Arnold’s calm guidance and David’s quiet strength that got us through the final push to Uhuru Peak. I can’t overstate how much their experience and care meant to us. The entire Songbirds team, from porters to cook, worked tirelessly to support us, and somehow always had a hot meal ready and smiles on their faces. A journey beyond words with the best company. - There are trips that change perspectives and then there is Kilimanjaro where everstep, especially when taken with the right team, becomes a memory that is etched in the soul. Trekking the majestic Kilimanjaro for 7 days with one of the incredible Lemosho route with Tanzania Songbirds Safaris was not just a climb; it was experienced crafted with heart, precision and deep respect for the mountain and its climbers. From the very first day, it was clear that everything had been thoughtfully arranged from the seamless logistics and quality gear to the daily meals on the mountain that nourished us better than we expected at such altitudes. Our summit push, the emotional climax of the trek, was made possible by the steady leadership and encouragement of our two fantastic guides, Joseph Mosha and his assistant Elibariki Munishi, two of the most knowledgeable, grounded and truly bright individuals I've had the honor to walk beside. 7 Days of Kilimanjaro - Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro with Tanzania Songbirds Safaris was a truly unforgettable experience. From the very beginning, the support and organization were exceptional. Our guide, James, was not only knowledgeable but incredibly encouraging and attentive throughout the entire trek. He had a deep understanding of the mountain’s routes, weather changes, and how to pace us to adjust to the altitude. He checked on us constantly, making sure we were well-fed, hydrated, and motivated, especially during the more challenging sections like the Barranco Wall and the summit push. The entire crew—from the porters to the cook—played a huge role in the success of our climb. They were always cheerful, efficient, and respectful, carrying our gear with ease and setting up camp before we arrived. Meals were surprisingly delicious and varied, giving us the energy we needed each day. The gear provided by the company was in great condition—tents were sturdy and warm, sleeping bags were clean and cozy, and everything was organized smoothly. Experience of a lifetime on Kilimanjaro, 7 Great Days - We had a great conversation with Tanzania Songbirds Safaris, even before arrived in Tanzania. The operator is really nice and helpful anytime when we need for something and give much information needed for best tip to get in Tanzania. On our arrival we met Lameck at the airport who drive us to our hotel in Moshi town, ready for meeting the crew and the staff and also for final checkup gear lists and know the team. The guides, Denis and Michael are the heroes of Kilimanjaro from the first day to the last are really guides us well, the porters they are so important person who carrying our all staffs and best chef who make sure we always have 3 meal a day. The food and accommodation while in the mountain. The schedule is great and we traveled as a couples and this people manage us well. We recommend this company with Michael and Denis team for any climbers of Kilimanjaro.

The great experience we had with Songbirds Safaris to Kilimanjaro. - We had a great experience in Kilimanjaro with Tanzania Songbirds Safaris, one of the reasons we trust them is because they are very honest to us. We booked a 7 day trek with them with the most successful route of Lemosho for mid duration for Kilimanjaro, we are friends in the group of 4 people, we are all happy to make Kilimanjaro, our team help us to make sure we summit Kili. Every moment is enjoyable by the operator, Guides, Porters, cooks and Waiters, this all team from Tanzania Songbirds Safaris are great and we can't recommend them enough. 7 Days on Kilimanjaro, this was a journey that changed everything. - We just got back from our 7-day Kilimanjaro trek with Tanzania Songbirds Safaris, and I still can’t fully believe it happened. Every single day felt like something out of a dream—waking up to the silence of the mountain, the sunrise hitting the peaks, and our amazing guides making us laugh even when we were tired. I’ve never felt so taken care of. The crew was beyond kind—helping us with our gear, cooking the best meals we’ve had in the middle of nowhere (seriously, soup that tasted like home), and always checking how we were feeling. They somehow made a tough climb feel like a beautiful walk with old friends. Reaching the summit was emotional, but honestly, it was the people who made the trip what it was. Thank you, Songbirds. Once upo a lifetime Kilimanjaro for 7 Day, great dedication of the best team - I just returned from an Unforgettable 7-day Lemosho route Trek with Tanzania Songbirds Safaris, and I still can't believe it was real. I traveled as a solo traveler, I was welcomed like family by my guide Derick and the amazing crew of 5 more people that are chefs, porters, waiters, and tentmager that work as multipurpose jobs, each of whom brought heart, humor and incredible skills to every step of my Kilimanjaro journey. Derick's calm confidence and keeps knowledge of Kilimanjaro's terrain, weather that made me feel safe and motivate, even on the toughest days, (summit day and descent for me was a bit tough but with this incredible team there are no worries). Every camp was set up with care before I arrived with a hot meal that exceeded all expectations (I am still thinking about the soup and coffee) and every attitude gain was paced with thoughtful precision. What moved the most was the quiet dignity and team work of the crew -- always smiling, always encouraging, always step ahead. I've done treks before but this was something else -- an experience of spirit, trust and humanity at 4,000+ Meters. I didn't just summit a mountain-- I walked alongside people whose dedication turned a dream into one of the most personal journeys of my life. What we didn't know was how deeply this 7- day trek would move us-- body, mind and soul. We initially contacted the company and we're warmly guided by Glory, whose professionalism and genuine care immediately set the tone for what was to come. Every question was met with patience and detail, and the entire booking process felt effortless and reassuring. It was clear from the start: we were in the best company. Our trek began in the shadow of the great mountain, but it was the people who made this adventure unforgettable. Our guides Arnold and Lameck were more than just experts-- they were mentors, motivators and storytellers who brought the mountain experience to real life with every step. Their great knowledge of the terrain, the Tanzania local culture, history of the county, best geography and their incredible ability to read the groups pace and energy were unmatched. Whether it was navigating the challenging climbs or sharing stories under starlit skies, they made every moment feel both personal and powerful. We mostly arrived at the camp and we found some of the team had already arrived and prepared the hit water, hot meal, and set up the tents with a warm smile. On our last day after a 7 days the company provide and arranged to us the last true experience of coffee tour in one of the village in Arusha, that we experienced nit only coffee tour but real Tanzania village life and then after we come to the city for the activity of Guided walking city tour, that we learned a lot by visiting the landmarks of the city, like historical site, government buildings, arts site and we had best chance to brought the souvenirs while on the tour. There were a moment of challenge, but never of doubt, because we felt completely supported every step of the way. Tanzania Songbirds Safaris doesn't just take you up a mountain, but they walk with you into an experience that stays with you long after you return home. This wasn't just a tour.
