Starting from Moshi, a 45-minute drive will take you through charming mountainside villages to the Kilimanjaro National Park Gate. Here, permits are issued while observing the lively preparations of various crews for the journey ahead. Enjoy the stunning rainforest scenery and winding trails as your guide shares insights about the local flora, fauna, and wildlife. At these lower elevations, the trail can be muddy and slippery, so gaiters and trekking poles are highly recommended.

Mount Kilimanjaro - Very early in the morning (around midnight), the push to the summit begins. This is the most mentally and physically challenging part of the trek. The wind and cold at this elevation and time can be extreme. The ascent is made in darkness for several hours with frequent, short breaks. Near Stella Point (18,900 ft), a magnificent sunrise over Mawenzi Peak is a reward. Finally, Uhuru Peak is reached - the highest point on Mount Kilimanjaro and the African continent.
From the summit, the descent continues straight down to the Mweka Hut campsite, with a stop at Barafu for lunch. The trail is rocky and can be hard on the knees; trekking poles are helpful. Mweka Camp is located in the upper forest, where mist or rain is expected in the late afternoon. Later, enjoy the last dinner on the mountain and a well-deserved sleep.

As the weather is significantly warmer, the terrain is wet, muddy, and steep, so gaiters and trekking poles are highly recommended.
From the gate, a vehicle will meet you at Mweka village to drive you back to your hotel in Moshi (about 30 minutes).
