The safari was fantastic, by knowledgeable guides and the good care of Joseph. - In September 2025 I went on safari with safari company Northern Heritage Tanzania from Arusha to Mkomazi National Park. That was a fantastic experience. Joseph, the guide, was fantastic and arranged everything for me. Slept wonderfully in Tembo hotel, 8 km away from the park entrance. The park offers grand views of Tanzania's beautiful landscape. We have spotted many animals and birds. The park has a closed part where rhinos are bred. We have seen several rhinos, including small ones. Great initiative to protect these animals. In that part of the park, to protect the rhinos, you will not encounter elephants, lions and bison, but in the rest of the park you will. Very special to be able to see the rhinos up close. In addition, there is a shelter (and breeding program) of wild dogs, also an endangered species. The guides are very knowledgeable and give a lot of information. The next day we walked, with a guide, over the market in Same, also with a local guide. Lots to see including (local, medicinal) herbs, fresh fruit and vegetables etc etc.

GLACIER!! Plan one year in advance for lodging in the park then be flexible 7/24/25-7/30/25 - Plan your trip 1 year in advance for accommodations in the park. On the first day of the month exactly one year prior, we were 3 on our computers EST at 2 am 7/1/24. We were moving west to east on the GTTSR. 7/24/25 Day 1: We arrived 1 adult in 60’s with 2 sons in 20’s at Kalispell airport from the East coast around 1 pm. Our first stop was the “share shack” where we picked up some bear spray free of charge. Other then a cooler we Were stocked. Went to west glacier village walked around. Stopped at Apgar visitor center for board of events. Stopped at back slope Brewing in Columbia Falls for great food and some IPA’s The super 1 grocery store we picked up a cooler. They had deli, wine, Beer. We generally do breakfast, lunch on the trail so to speak then Out for a dinner. We checked into the wonderstone lodge for our first Night. Went to Gunsight saloon for dinner. Outdoor music great food. 7/25/25 Day 2: up super early 6:30 am. We are starting our glacier adventure on the GTTSR. You have to get out early for parking. We start our day at “trail Of the cedars” which blends into the Avalanche lake overlook. Not very hard. It’s all breathtaking. If we got there at 7:30ish we were having our Lunch around 1. We hung at the lake a bit. Heading to Lake McDonald Lodge. Our digs for the night. Clean cabin right above the lake. Gave Us early check in. Back to apgar village. Guys went Kayaking. People We’re wading into the lake. Ate dinner at the McDonald lodge at Lucke’s lounge. First come first serve not a long wait at all. Great view Food and huckleberry cocktails. 7/26/25 Day 3: out by 7 am. Back on GTTSR . I don’t find the driving to hairy. It’s early So not a lot of traffic going east to west. We are literally in the clouds. We are heading to rising sun motor inn to catch the red jammer bus (We did the 3 hour tour up to Logan pass) also booked a year in Advance. We are staying here the next 2 nights. Spent a little time at Logan pass. It was already filled up. I think you would have to be really Early or lucky to get parking. If it’s a priority think whole day shuttle. Stopped in visitor center. Off to St. Mary’s and Va. falls. Parking was Challenging. We were about 1-1.5 miles up the road from trail head. Awesome. People were jumping into pool. I thought it was a poor Decision. Back to rising sun motor inn. Check in early. Our cabin was a Side by side. Very clean. We ate there at “two dog flats” great views. Excellent food. Had local trout. Small camp store for coffee. 7/27/25 Day 4: Out by 7 am. I am convinced it’s key to rise early. Back to GTTSR Heading to scheduled boat trip. Stopped at KYIYO Mercantile for Huckleberry bear claws. ( apparently connected to one in pole ridge) Do not miss these juicy pastry treats! It’s a misty morning on the lake. Your layered in am but doesn’t last long. I was having an issue with my Knee. Wish I brought a brace. Guys did twin and upper falls. Drive into The campground there, mountain goats like to eat ash out of fire pits. Camp store there. Short hike to beaver pond but I didn’t go. Off to Eagle falls. Super easy hike. Topped off gas. Went and did laundry At koa in st. Mary. Back to rising sun motor inn. Went to “two sisters Cafe” in Babb. Wonderful, fun spot. We stopped by and checked out Glacier lodge after falls on way back. 7/28/25 Day 5: Out by 7. Heading to Many Glacier for our schedule boat trip for the Grinned Glacier trail. There was construction in the area this year. The road turned to dirt. I don’t know if it was due to that or always Like that. I can’t do the hike. I am not disappointed the trip has been Incredible. Hiking poles are a must imho. I wish I had made backup Plan for horseback riding. Like everything else. Sold out. Have to Plan a year ahead. Cancellation policies are very generous! I hiked To fisher cap lake hoping to see moose. Just missed. Went by swift Current lodge area which was closed due to the construction. I’d say It looked on par with rising sun and McDonald cabins.we had the Boat trip scheduled across 2 lakes to cut off time to grinned. I took The ride but the 2nd boat had a malfunction. The guys hiked from The first boat dock and therefore could not get the boats back. They gave me a 50% refund. Their pictures were amazing. They Saw grizzlies, big horn sheep etc. we ate in the Ptarmigan dining Room. It was just okay. Our room at Many had a door that led right Out to the lake. We set alarms and woke up to amazing stargazing. There’s a coffee shop here called Heidi’s. We grabbed breakfast Sandwiches . 7/29/25 Day 6 Out early 8. Heading to Canada. We arrive in the village of Waterton Walk around town into the peace park. A unescorted site. Stopped at An outdoor restaurant for poutine. Then off to the Prince of Wales Hotel for reservations for a high tea. Another Swiss chalet style Hotel. Amazing. Again reservations made a year in advance but by Direct. Then it came through on open table. On the way back to many Glacier lodge we drove through the bison paddock. Guys got burger Takeout. 7/30/25 Day 7 time to head home. We went back towards the airport by going Around the park. You should sign up for alerts with the park. Tells you About any trail closures. Usually due to bears. But one day a bad MVA On the GTTSR. Closed in both directions. There is no where to get out Of that situation but wait. We weren’t taking chances. Back to Columbia falls. Had breakfast at a very cool “outlaw diner” really Great.returned to “share shack” with bear spray+ and donation. Topped off gas. Returned rental car. We were blessed with excellent weather. Never rained. I’ve been fortunate to visit many of our national parks. It’s my favorites. Thanks to all who helped me with my planning. I hope this helps others!
