Depart Arusha – Tarangire National Park
Tarangire National Park - Embark on an exciting safari adventure as you leave Arusha, the gateway to Northern Tanzania’s national parks. Journey along the scenic Arusha–Dodoma highway, passing through the beautiful Maasai Steppe en route to Tarangire National Park. If necessary, a quick stop at a local supermarket can be arranged for any last-minute personal items. After about two hours, you’ll reach Tarangire, where your driver-guide will manage park registration while you take a moment to stretch. Begin your first game drive through Tarangire’s iconic landscapes, renowned for its towering baobab trees and impressive elephant herds. Lunch will be enjoyed at a designated picnic site, followed by afternoon game drives until sunset. In the evening, proceed to Karatu for dinner and an overnight stay at a comfortable mid-range lodge such as Africa Safari Lodge or Country Lodge Karatu. Lunch and Dinner Included.
Tarangire National Park to the Serengeti National Park.
Serengeti National Park - After an early breakfast, depart Tarangire and embark on a scenic journey across the Great Rift Valley floor, ascending the escarpment and traversing the lush highlands of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Along the way, you have the option to visit a Maasai village or a panoramic viewpoint for cultural insights and photo opportunities. Lunch will be served at one of the designated picnic sites, likely at Naabi Hill Gate—the official entry point to Serengeti National Park. Here, you’ll have a chance to stretch your legs while your guide handles park registration and paperwork. By early afternoon, enter the Serengeti and begin your first game drive across its iconic plains. Expect to see big cats, grazing herds, and perhaps even the early signs of the Great Migration. As the sun sets, head to your accommodation at ThornTree Tented Lodge, Serengeti Green Hills Camp, or similar for dinner, where the sounds of the wild await. All meals are included.
Full Day at Serengeti National Park (with optional Sunrise Balloon Ride)
Serengeti National Park - Rise early for a sunrise game drive—one of the best times to witness the Serengeti come alive. As the morning mist lifts, you may catch rare nocturnal species returning to rest and observe diurnal animals beginning their day. Many animals gather near roadside clearings to escape the dew. After breakfast back at camp, spend the full day exploring the vast plains of Serengeti National Park. The name “Serengeti” comes from the Maasai word Siringit, meaning “endless plains”—and true to its name, the landscape stretches as far as the eye can see. Your guide will help you track wildlife across different habitats, from open savannah to rocky outcrops and riverbanks. Expect to encounter wildebeests, elephants, lions, cheetahs, zebras, elands, and—if luck is on your side—the elusive leopard. The park is also a haven for bird lovers, with a mix of resident and migratory species. Overnight at ThornTree Tented Lodge, Serengeti Green Hills Camp, or similar. All meals are included.
Serengeti National Park – Ngorongoro Conservation Area
Serengeti National Park - Start the day with either a sunrise game drive—ideal for spotting early wildlife activity—or enjoy a relaxed breakfast at camp. Afterward, journey toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, with wildlife viewing opportunities along the way as you leave the Serengeti’s open plains and ascend into the highlands. There’s an optional stop at Olduvai Gorge, one of East Africa’s most significant archaeological sites, offering insight into early human history. By late afternoon, arrive in Karatu, a charming town nestled near the crater rim. Dinner and overnight will be at a comfortable mid-range lodge such as Africa Safari Karatu or Country Lodge, where you’ll enjoy warm hospitality and scenic surroundings. All meals included.
Ngorongoro Crater Tour and Return to Arusha
Ngorongoro Conservation Area - After an early breakfast, descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for a half-day game drive in one of Africa’s most extraordinary wildlife sanctuaries. This UNESCO World Heritage Site offers unmatched animal density, giving you a chance to spot endangered black rhinos, lions, flamingos, and a wide variety of other species—all within the dramatic setting of the crater floor. Around midday, pause for a picnic lunch by the hippo pool, surrounded by the sights and sounds of this unique ecosystem. In the afternoon, begin the scenic drive back to Arusha (approximately 4 hours), where you’ll be dropped off at your hotel or the airport. Depending on time, a complimentary stop at Shanga Gift & Workshop at Arusha Coffee Lodge or the Arusha Cultural Heritage Centre can be included—a perfect way to round off your journey with a touch of local art and culture. Breakfast and Lunch included.
