As you journey deeper into the Serengeti, you’ll understand why its name translates to “endless plains” in the local language. Spanning 6,900 sq. miles (18,000 sq. km), the plains extend to the horizon, challenging your senses and perception of distance. It is the stage for the Great Migration, hosting 2 million wildebeests, hundreds of thousands of zebras, and various antelopes. For those seeking Big Cats and large predators, this is the ideal location to spot lions, cheetahs, leopards, and hyenas, with many iconic television scenes, such as the famous river crossings, filmed here.

Serengeti National Park - Ngorongoro

Serengeti National Park - Begin your day with an early morning game drive in Serengeti National Park, when wildlife is most active. Keep an eye out for wildebeests, lions, elephants, leopards, impalas, gazelles, cheetahs, and, if fortunate, a glimpse of the Great Migration in action.

After a mid-morning brunch, embark on your journey to Ngorongoro, enjoying a game drive en route as you depart from the Serengeti. Arrive by late evening at Ngorongoro Simba Campsite, situated on the crater rim, where a warm dinner and a tranquil night under the stars await.

Ngorongoro Crater - Karatu

Ngorongoro Crater - Spend a full day in the Ngorongoro Crater, where there is a high likelihood of spotting the Big Five in one day: lion, rhino, elephant, buffalo, and leopard. Enjoy your afternoon lunch at the picnic site on the crater floor. In the evening, ascend to the crater rim and drive to the Lodge in Karatu for an overnight stay.

Lake Manyara National Park

Lake Manyara - Enjoy a morning game drive at Lake Manyara National Park. The park spans 330 sq. km, with 70% covered by the lake. Its diverse ecosystem includes groundwater forests, acacia woodland, and open grassland along the lakeshore, supporting a rich variety of wildlife, including the Big Five - lion, elephant, leopard, rhino, and buffalo.
The park is renowned for its elusive tree-climbing lions that inhabit the woodland between the lake and the rift valley. This marks the final leg of your safari, with a 4-hour drive remaining to Arusha.
