Tarangire National Park
Tarangire National Park - Begin the day with a morning pick-up from your hotel in Arusha and travel to Tarangire National Park for exciting game drives. The park is situated along the Tarangire River and features low-lying hills on the floor of the Great Rift Valley. Its natural landscape is primarily composed of Acacia woodlands and majestic African Baobab trees, with expansive swamp areas in the southern region. During Tanzania’s dry season, both the river and swamps attract a multitude of wildlife. Tarangire National Park is renowned for hosting some of Africa’s largest elephant herds from June to October. The intense sun draws moisture from the land, turning the earth a dusty red and making the dry grass as brittle as straw. This African National Park is also home to three rare animal species – the Greater Kudu, the Fringed-eared Oryx, and a few Ashy Starlings. After enjoying a picnic lunch, embark on an afternoon game drive before proceeding to Karatu, where you will spend the night and savor dinner at Karatu Simba Lodge.
Lake Manyara National Park
Lake Manyara National Park - In the early morning, continue the safari adventure to Lake Manyara National Park. This park includes the northwest bank and part of the alkaline Lake Manyara, nestled in the Great Rift Valley. The park is famous for its flamingos, pelicans, and cormorants, and is home to several hundred other bird species, making it a haven for bird enthusiasts. In addition to the diverse birdlife, “Big Game” sightings are possible. With some luck, elephants may be spotted in the wooded areas, and with even more fortune, the tree-climbing lions. For a long time, Lake Manyara National Park was believed to be the only place where lions exhibited this unusual tree-climbing behavior. Baboons and velvet monkeys inhabit the forested regions, while giraffes graze on fresh leaves in the open areas, alongside various antelope species searching for tender shoots. After a picnic lunch, there will be additional time for more game and wildlife viewing before returning to Arusha city, where you will be dropped off at your accommodation around dinner time.
