The reserve is home to some of Africa’s largest and most significant populations of elephants, buffaloes, antelopes, cats, and wild dogs. Named after Sir Frederick Selous, an English big game hunter and early conservationist who died at Beho Beho in 1917 during World War I, this pristine reserve was declared a World Heritage site in 1982.
