With a diameter of 120 meters (390 ft) following a 2nd-century expansion, this theatre is the second largest of its kind in Sicily (after Syracuse). While most original seats are gone, the surrounding wall of the cavea remains intact, and the proscenium with the back wall of the scena and its appendages are preserved in remarkable condition, enhancing the picturesque and historical appeal of the ruin. Architectural fragments reveal it was of the Corinthian order, richly adorned. Some parts of a temple are visible, converted into the small church of San Pancrazio.
