The tour starteds with a... - The tour starteds with a ride in a large van (small bus) to the starting area for Mount Etna, which has restaurants and shops. The guide then took us up the mountain and around it along the trails. The mountain is extremely beautiful and photogenic, and our guide (Giuseppe) was extremely knowledgeable. He was also very attentive, making sure no one fell behind (the first part of the climb is a bit steep) and everyone was safe. The second part of the tou involved climbing down into a small cave made from lava. The third part was a visit to a winery and bee farm, where we sampled three types of local wine and different types of honey.

Simone the king of Mt Etna! - This was a fantastic day. We met Simone at a hotel one block away where he picked us up. Then one other group making it a total of 6. Simone was an absolute delight to spend the day with! The most knowledgeable guide who really lives his job as well as music ( yes we all sang together in the car ) and very funny. Before mount Etna, we stopped to see a cave. Then to the visitors center. Etna is a marvel with so much history. Once you are there you have three choices. A hike, cable car to as far up as you can go, or driving an ATV motor bike which is what we did. So much fun, a little scary with rough terrain but you are in a group so you can’t get lost. Then we tasted local wines, liquors and yummy pesto spreads and sweet jams on crostini. You can then obviously buy what you tasted AND WE DID! We really hope you have Simone as your guide because he is 10/10! Things to know: We booked the tour originally from 8:00am-3:00pm, but the tour ended up being 9:00am-4:30pm based on weather and traffic. Just leave space to get back before an early reservation. Even if it’s warm in Taormina, it’s windy and chilly on Mt Etna, we did not know this and had to buy two hoodies. The hike is free, but the ATV or Cable Car is an extra charge. $150-$190 for two but it’s worth it. I’m being specific because my one critique is that the Tour posting did not mention… anything. Very vague, but we went with the flow and ended up being happy. Thank you Simone

A great day :) - We had an absolutely brilliant time. Pepe was an excellent guide, really enjoyed the hikes round the craters and his explanations of how the landscape has been formed and changed with the volcanic activity. The samples were delicious and although all could be purchased (and many were! Not quite sure how it’s all going to fit in our case) there was no hard sell. Loved walking in the lava tube at the end. Would highly recommend

Mt Etna day - Pepe was our best guide while in Sicily. He is very knowledgeable. His English is great. Options are available at Mt Etna -some at an extra cost. We did the cable car & hike to crater. No lunch but places to grab a snack. Highly recommend it.

Glad we found it. - Just completed our very enjoyable Mount Etna nature flavors tour with our very competent and safe driver Gabriel. Visited amazing craters and caves capped off with an excellent wine and food tasting spot .We decided not to take the cable car as we were satisfied with what we experienced.Friendly group of 8 which was perfect for us.Picked us up from a close meeting point from our accommodation in the heights of Taormina.Thanks again Gabriel for your depth of knowledge and making it such a great day.Craig & Mary ,Australia.

Best Tour Ever - This tour is fantastic. The guide has an extensive knowledge of volcanos and lava flows and the lava caves you see are really cool. The tour write up does not explain at all that you also get to visit a really great winery/restaurant named Enoteca Dell'Etna that had some of the best wines I have ever had and the food was just excellent and all of it was grown and made locally. One of the very best tours I have ever been on.

Issue with the Van - Beware of taking this tour if you have any issues with small, dark, enclosed spaces. When the van came to pick me up, I got in, but had to get out almost immediately and decline the ride as I was overwhelmed by feelings of claustrophobia (there were 5 other people in the small van plus the driver and the windows were tinted so dark and not able to be rolled down). I travel frequently and have been on many many tours, but have never encountered this issue... I even paraglided later the same day and was driven to the top of the mountain in a bright, airy van, with a similar number of people in it and had no issue with the space. The company also refused to refund my trip due to the issue with their van. And when I suggested my taking the tour at another time (when I could sit in the front by the window (there was a couple sitting there already on this particular trip and I did not want to ruin their experience by having them move to the back for me), the company refused to let me unless I paid twice. Which I was not prepared to do.
