The tour on the northern side of Etna begins by following the main road towards Nunziata Mascali. The journey continues up the 1928 lava flow through lava quarries, with a stop near a chapel built by devotees in gratitude for a miracle in the village of Saint Alfio. The tour then ascends to the Sartorius craters from 1865, where you’ll take a 50-minute walk at approximately 1750 meters above sea level. From this point, you’ll visit other natural sites of special interest and observe both ancient and recent lava flows, arriving at the Ragabo refuge by 13:00. You’ll have free time available (lunch optional). The tour includes a walk to a lava cave, followed by a transfer to Gambino winery for a tasting of Etna wines and typical local products. In the afternoon, you’ll return to your hotel or the starting meeting points. Throughout the journey, the guide or tour leader will provide tourist and nature information in English, using off-road vehicles connected by radio.
