- Necropoli dei Monterozzi - The Etruscan Necropolis of Monterozzi is situated on a plateau east of Tarquinia (Viterbo) and features around 6,000 tombs, most of which are chambers carved into the rock and topped with tumuli, with the oldest dating back to the seventh century BC. Among these, about 200 contain a series of frescoes that represent the largest collection of Etruscan pictorial art that has survived to the present day, and also serve as the most significant evidence of ancient paintings prior to the Roman Imperial Age.
