Tashkent - Evening Flight to Urgench, Arrival in Khiva
Amir Temur Square - Located in the heart of Tashkent, Amir Temur Square is a beloved spot for both locals and visitors. Established in 1882, it was initially named Konstantinovsky Square but was renamed on August 31, 1994, in honor of Amir Temur, the founder of the Timurid Empire. The square features a bronze statue of Amir Temur on horseback, with his famous motto “Justice is force” inscribed in four languages. Surrounding the square are notable buildings like the “Uzbekistan” hotel and the State Museum of History of Timurids. The square, redesigned in 2009, is a radial-circular park with eight lanes converging at the monument.
Amir Timur Museum - The Amir Timur Museum, also known as the Tamerlane Museum, is dedicated to the renowned conqueror Amir Timur. Located in Tashkent, the museum showcases artifacts, manuscripts, and exhibits related to Timur’s life and the Timurid era in Central Asian history.
Navoi Opera Theater - The State Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theater is a prestigious cultural institution in Uzbekistan, celebrated for its rich national and international classical repertoire. Established over 80 years ago, the theater has hosted many renowned conductors, actors, and musicians. It is one of three theaters in the former Soviet Union to receive the Bolshoi status, alongside those in Moscow and Minsk. The theater premiered the Uzbek opera “Buran” on June 11, 1939.
Monument of Courage Earthquake Memorial - On April 26, 1966, Tashkent experienced a devastating earthquake measuring 8 on the Richter scale, leaving 78,000 families homeless. In 1976, a monument named “Courage” was erected near the earthquake’s epicenter. The monument features a cube split by a crack leading to a bronze sculpture of a woman holding a baby and a man shielding them. Tashkent was rebuilt with the help of construction teams from across the Soviet Union, and within 3.5 years, the city was fully restored.
Hazrati Imam Complex - The Hazrat Imam Complex, also known as Hast-Imam, is located in Tashkent’s historic Sibzar district. It centers around the Mazar Kaffallya ash-Shashi, the first Imam and Islamic preacher in Tashkent. The complex houses a library with over 30,000 books, including rare manuscripts. The Friday Mosque Jami, built in Central Asian architectural style, features two 56-meter-high minarets.
Chorsu Bazaar - Chorsu Bazaar, officially “Eski Juva” or “Old Tower,” is one of Central Asia’s largest and oldest markets. Under seven domes adorned with colorful ceramic tiles, the bazaar offers a wide variety of fruits, vegetables, and goods. Visitors can enjoy traditional Uzbek dishes like palov and shashlik, and explore the vibrant market atmosphere filled with spices and local produce.
Khiva - A World of 1001 Nights
Ota Gate - The Ota Darwaza, or Ota Gate, is a prominent entrance to the ancient walled city of Khiva in Uzbekistan.
Citadel Kunya-ark - Built between 1686-1688 by Arangakhan, Kunya-Ark is an “old castle” in Khiva. The fortress includes a reception hall, khan’s office, mosques, and other structures. Today, visitors can see the kurinishhona, Ak-Sheikh Bobo’s cell, the eastern gate, and mosques.
Kalta Minor Minaret - The Kalta-Minar Minaret, meaning “Low Tower,” is an iconic structure in Khiva. Built in the 19th century by Mukhammad Amin-khan, it was intended to be 70-80 meters tall but was left unfinished at 29 meters. Despite this, it remains a significant landmark, covered in blue and white tiles.
Toshhovli Palace - Tosh-Hovli Palace, located in Khiva’s Ichan Kala, is a historical complex built in the early 19th century during Muhammad Rahim Khan I’s reign. It served as the Khan’s residence and an administrative center, featuring traditional Central Asian architecture.
Pahlavan Mahmoud Mausoleum - The Pahlavan Mahmud complex, near Juma Mosque, honors the poet and philosopher known for his strength and healing abilities. The mausoleum, rebuilt in 1810, features a large dome and houses the tombs of Khiva’s rulers.
Mohammed Amin Khan Madrassah - The Muhammad Amin Khan Madrasa is a notable historical site within Khiva’s Ichan Kala.
Juma Mosque - Located in Khiva’s Ichan Kala, the Juma Mosque dates back to the 10th century, with significant reconstructions in the 18th and 19th centuries. It features a prayer hall supported by intricately carved wooden columns and a facade adorned with traditional tile work.
Train Journey to Bukhara
Bukhara - After an early breakfast, take the train to Bukhara, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Bukhara is a living museum with mosques, madrasahs, and minarets lining its narrow, traffic-free streets. Highlights include the Poikalon complex, the Kalon minaret, the Ark Citadel, and the Samanid Mausoleum. Enjoy a two-night stay in Bukhara.
Bukhara - Oasis Town and Pilgrimage Site
Lyabi Khauz - The Lyabi-Hauz ensemble, meaning “the shore of the reservoir,” is Bukhara’s largest medieval artificial reservoir, dug in 1620. It includes the Kukeldash madrassah and two religious buildings, Hanaka and the Madrasah of Nadir Divan-Begi.
Maghak-i ‘Attari Mosque - The Magoki-Attori Mosque, or “Deep Mosque,” dates back to the 12th-16th centuries. Located near the Labi House ensemble, it features intricate brickwork, patterns, and terracotta tiles. The mosque was rebuilt in the 12th century, and its facade was uncovered by restorers.
Toki Sarrofon - Toki Sarrofon, in Bukhara’s historic center, is a trading dome with a rich history as a Silk Road commerce hub. It features a domed structure with arched entrances and sections for merchants selling textiles, spices, and crafts.
Toqi Telpakfurushon - Toki Telpak Furushon, another trading dome in Bukhara, is located near the Po-i-Kalyan complex and Ark Fortress. It has a long history as a Silk Road trading center.
Toqi Zargaron - Toki Zargaron, or the Dome of Jewelers, is a significant trading dome in Bukhara, known for its skilled artisans and jewelers.
Ark of Bukhara - The Ark Citadel, Bukhara’s oldest monument, dates back to the 4th-3rd centuries. The rectangular fortress covers 3.9 hectares and features walls up to 20 meters high. Despite being destroyed multiple times, it has been restored.
Bukhara - Nurata Yurt Camp Stay
Nurata - After breakfast, travel to the Nurata yurt camp and Aidarkul Lake to experience nomadic life and camel riding. Arrive at Aidarkul Lake, Uzbekistan’s largest lake, for lunch and swimming. In the afternoon, head to the yurt camp 25 km away, enjoy camel riding, and dine at the Yurt Camp restaurant. After dinner, enjoy traditional folklore music by a local singer (Bakhshi) around the campfire before sleeping.

Samarkand - After breakfast at the yurt camp, travel to Samarkand, arriving around midday to begin the tour.
Gur Emir Mausoleum - The Gur-Emir Mausoleum, a masterpiece of medieval architecture, was begun in 1404. It serves as the Timurid family tomb, with restored domes and glaze.
Registan Square - Registan Square, in Samarkand’s old city center, features three grand madrasas: Ulugbek, Tilla-Kari, and Sher-Dor.
Bibi-Khanym Mosque - The Bibi-Khanym Mosque, built between 1399-1404, was named after Timur’s beloved wife. It was intended to be a grand mosque for Friday prayers.
Siyob Bozor - Siab Bazaar, one of Samarkand’s oldest markets, offers a variety of fruits, vegetables, and traditional sweets.

Shah-i-Zinda - The Shahi-Zinda necropolis, located in Afrasiab, includes mausoleums and religious buildings from the 11th, 14th, and 19th centuries.
Observatory of Ulugbek - Built in 1428-1429, the Ulugbek Observatory is a significant medieval observatory with a well-preserved marble sextant.
