• Ulugh Beg Observatory - Among the historical landmarks of Samarkand, the observatory holds a special place. Constructed by Ulugh Beg in 1428-1429 on a hill at the base of Chupanata altitude, it was a unique structure for its time. The observatory’s foundation was a giant goniometer (vertical circle) with a radius of 40.212 meters and an arc length of 63 meters. The main instrument, a sextant, was precisely aligned along the meridian from south to north.
• Shah-i-Zinda - This is one of Samarkand’s most enigmatic and unique architectural monuments, the Shakhi Zinda complex. It features rows of refined tombs in sparkling blue hues. Various mausoleums are harmoniously arranged along narrow medieval streets, forming a lively and dynamic composition. Shakhi Zinda comprises eleven mausoleums, constructed sequentially in the 14th and 15th centuries.
• Hazrat Khizr Mosque - Located south of the Afrasiab fort, the mosque covers an area of 30 x 16 meters. It stands on a natural elevation, accessible by steep stairs. The mosque includes an aivan and khanaka. The mosque’s aivan (an indoor canopy supported by columns) is richly adorned with ornaments.
• Registan - Registan Square is a true gem in the heart of ancient Samarkand. It is renowned worldwide for its magnificent architectural ensemble, a testament to oriental architecture.
• Gur Emir Mausoleum - A significant architectural ensemble of the medieval East, the Gur Emir was constructed in the southwestern part of Samarkand at the beginning of the 15th century.
• Lyab-i-Hauz - The architectural ensemble Lyabi-Khauz consists of three large monumental buildings: Kukeldash Madrasah to the north, khanaka and Nodir Divan-begi to the west and east. The square was enclosed by Trade Street to the south. The center of old Bukhara’s large ensemble is a reservoir.
• Ulugbek Madrasah - Ulugbek Madrasah was established in 1417, as indicated by the inscription on the bronze door plate.
• Abdulaziz-Khan Madrasah - Opposite Ulugbek Madrasah is Abdullazizkhan Madrasah, built by Abdullazizkhan in 1651-1652. It is the last large Madrasah in Bukhara, characterized by its composition with a four-ayvans courtyard and unique divergent fan of hudj groups beyond the side ayvans and cupola buildings on the central axis.
• Chor-Minor - The madrasah boasts elegant and unconventional shapes; it is not large but appears grand. It was constructed in 1807 by a wealthy Turkmen merchant, a horse and carpet trader named Caliph Niyazkul-Beg.
• Samanid Mausoleum - Among Bukhara’s medieval buildings, the Samanids Mausoleum is particularly noteworthy. This world-renowned architectural masterpiece was completed at the end of the ninth century.
• Ark of Bukhara - The Ark-Citadel served as the residence of Bukhara khans. Recent excavations have revealed that the citadel has been in this location since the 4th century BC.
• Moschea Bolo-khauz - Situated opposite the Ark - the Emir’s fortress, the complex includes a reservoir, Friday mosque, and minaret.
• Metro Taschkent - The architecture of Tashkent’s metro stations is among the most beautiful globally, making it a popular destination for travelers and guests during city sightseeing tours.
• Amir Timur Museum - About Amir Timur Museum: Tashkent is renowned for its cultural significance and hosts numerous museums. Among them is the Museum of Temurid’s history, a top sightseeing attraction in the city, frequently visited by tourists worldwide.
• State Museum “In Memory of the Victims of Repression” - This unique museum, dedicated to the memory of those killed or imprisoned due to repressions and persecutions, was recently established in the Uzbek capital.
• Minor Mosque - The Minor Mosque is a new attraction in Tashkent, located in the city’s new part, near the UzExpoCentre and Hotel International. Opened on October 1, 2014, on the eve of the Eid holiday, it has become a favorite spot for city residents to enjoy evening strolls. The Minor Mosque is situated on the Ankhor channel’s embankment and is surrounded by a landscaped area.
• Ensemble Hazrati Imam - This ensemble consists of the Barakkhan madrasah and The Museum of Quran, where the original 7th-century Othman Quran, written on deer skin, is preserved.
• Chorsu Bazaar - The old bazaar Eski Juva (‘old tower’), better known as Chorsu (‘four courses’; also spelled Chor-Su), is located in Tashkent’s Old City at a crossroads of four roads. It offers a wide array of colorful and exotic merchandise, and despite thorough restoration and renovation, it retains the captivating aura of old-time Asia and folklore throughout the year. It is one of the oldest Central Asian bazaars, known since the Middle Ages as a significant Silk Road destination.
