Day 1: Djerba to Ksar Ghilane
Your journey begins with our team picking you up in Djerba or Zarzis, for an uninterrupted experience. We will take you directly to the Berber village of Chenini, where you will discover its secrets with an exciting local guide. The route continues to Ksar Ghilane, famous for its natural hot spring, and we hope to arrive just before sunset. You will spend the night under the stars in a camp facing the majestic dunes. Take advantage of your free time to stroll through the desert and witness the magic of the preparation of sand bread, cooked under the sand and embers, during an evening around the campfire.
Night 1: Tent camp in the desert
Day 2: Tozeur and the Mountainous Oases
After an invigorating breakfast, you will head towards Tozeur via Douz. Along the way, take a photo break at the Chott Djerid salt lake, the largest salt lake in North Africa. Continue to the picturesque oasis of Chebika, where you’ll follow a local guide for an approximately 40-minute hike, and visit the spectacular Tamerza Waterfall. Your lunch will be an authentic homestay experience, in a local restaurant.
Hop aboard a 4x4 to cross Chott El Gharsa and take the old Dakar Rally track. Take a photo break at Ong Jmal, then drive through the impressive rocks and immense dunes in a 4x4 to Mos Espa, the largest Star Wars setting in Tunisia. At the end of the day, head to your hotel, with a final stop at the Nefta basket.
Night 2: Hotel Rass el ain or similar (subject to availability)
Day 3: Matmata and Return to Djerba
Start the day with a revitalizing breakfast, followed by a tour of the old medina of Tozeur. Then head to Douz, with a stop at the impressive petrified dunes of Debebecha. In Douz, immerse yourself in the local ambiance by visiting the bustling market square. You will also have the opportunity to live a unique experience by taking a quad or camel ride (optional).
Enjoy a delicious lunch at a 4-star hotel in Douz, then explore Matmata, where you will visit a cave house and meet a welcoming Berber family who will offer you rosemary tea, olive oil, honey and homemade bread. The final leg of your journey will take you to the Sidi Idriss Hotel, an iconic Star Wars filming location. Finally, return to Djerba, with a final stop for a memorable photo at the Berber village of Toujane, marking the end of this incredible adventure.
