Amazing Women - Andrea and her sister were outstanding hosts. Knowledge of small olive production was extensive. Learned a lot about processing of olives and products used in preparation. We will be healthier after this tour.

Our visit was enjoyable & great fun. - We enjoyed Andreia’s fun stories and imagining the production going on. The taste of the Oils, Jams, local Cheeses, & Meats,Honey, Bread & Bread with Red Pepper Sauce “Massa De Malagueta”, “ Piri-Piri em Azeite” & Olives we bought are truly amazing. We now know the secret of why they are so tastey ( you have to visit to find out). We got to taste all the product and all with extras including the Wine to help it all go down well! (As an older person, I would have liked a chair to sit on during the tasting) but we thoroughly enjoyed the experience anyway. Thank you To make it easier to find you could include “What Three Word's” ///about.seeking.unearths

Great Way to Enjoyably Support Local Small Business - My wife and I greatly enjoyed our tour of the Tavira Olive Factory in December, 2024. Our tour guide, Andreia, was charming and knowledgeable about both olive growing/processing and local sea salt harvesting. Andreia toured us through the factory and enabled us to taste olives at each stage of processing, a delicious experience! Although the Tavira Olive Factory does not produce olive oil, Andreia explained how to determine whether the olive oil you purchase was pure olive oil or had been cut with vegetable oil (which many commercial olive oils are – surprise, surprise). Did you know that naturally harvested sea salt contains some 82 minerals, unlike commercially processed salt which leases all minerals from the salt requiring iodine to be re-added? At the end of the tour there was a tasting event which included olives (again from each stage of processing), olive oil, honey, Portuguese cheeses, toasted local bread (upon which you could spread local honey, orange marmalade or fig jam), and various local meats all accompanied by wonderful Portuguese wine. Andreia’s sister, Liliana, and their mother were responsible for assembling the tasting while we were on the tour. We enthusiastically recommend that you take time to participate in this experience. You can easily walk to the Olive Factory from the center of Tavira. And you will walk past the salt pans and gigantic piles of sea salt.

beautiful excursion with delicious tasting - Unfortunately, in March outside of the olive harvest there was not much to visit except a few old machines, but Andrea explained everyone super and entertaining. The tasting after the tour was very delicious and seduced neatly to shopping in the attached store!

Fun excursion with wonderful ending! - We were extremely warmly received. The tour was fun, but because of the season (we were there in February) there was no action in the factory, which was of course a shame. But still learned a lot about olives and their processing. The tasting afterwards was top! Five kinds of olives, bread, ham... more than most people could eat. Plus a drink - or two, if you wanted.
