- Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park - Borjomi, a small mountain town, is renowned for its stunning sites, particularly its mineral water, famed for its unique healing properties and taste. This water has been celebrated for centuries, gaining prominence during the Russian rule of Georgia when resorts and palaces were established. Borjomi water earned its first gold medal in Belgium in 1907 and has been bottled since 1896.
- Green (Mtsvane) Monastery - Officially known as Chitakhevi St. George Monastery, this IX century friary is located in the village of Chitakhevi in the Borjomi municipality. Historians and archaeologists believe it was constructed by Christopher and Tevdore, disciples of St. Grigol Khandtstheli, a significant figure in Georgian history. The complex features a basilica-type church and a bell tower, both from the IX century, built from roughly hewn stone with minimal decoration. The bell tower has two floors, with a prayer room on the first and an ornately decorated pavilion on the second. Locals affectionately call it the Green Monastery.
- Rabati Castle - Travel to Akhaltsikhe (New Fortress), a town of strategic importance, home to the Rabati fortress built in the 9th century. Known as the fortress within a fortress, it has protected Georgia for centuries, though it has also seen periods of enemy occupation. The fortress, recently renovated, showcases a Georgian church, mosque, Madrasa (Islamic school), citadel, and a unique museum, making it a regional highlight.
- Vardzia - The Vardzia cave town, dating back to the 12th century, is a trip highlight, extending over half a kilometer along the Mtkvari River with 19 stories. Originally housing about 3000 caves, around 500 remain today. It features a rock-hewn church with stunning 12th-century frescoes, living quarters, small hall-type churches, refectories, and a wine cellar.

The caves are very difficult to reach. - Borjomi was nice, everything was supposed to have been restored with money from Germany. That's where our money stays. A health resort with a spring and beautiful houses.
Vardzia was very strenuous to walk to. It was very hot in August and the stairs to get to the cave require good walking skills. I looked at it from below. There is a certain pace in the group and I preferred to have something to drink down below.
