  On the banks of the Aragvi, visitors will encounter the only Georgian fortress that has survived in its original state. Exploring the Ananuri defense complex, one can imagine life in the Middle Ages and discover the illustrious history of the Aragva eristavi (leaders of the people). Special attention will be given to the 17th-century Assumption Church, whose facade is adorned with intriguing bas-reliefs, each with a hidden meaning.

  This iconic image of an ancient monastery perched on a hill against snow-capped mountains is a reality in the village of Stepantsminda at the base of Kazbek. From there, visitors will transfer to jeeps to ascend to the “monastery behind the clouds,” celebrated in Pushkin’s poetry.
