The fortress witnessed numerous battles and is an ideal location for landscape photography, offering breathtaking views of both the fortress and the Jinvali reservoir. Gergeti Trinity Church - Commonly known as the Holy Trinity Church near Gergeti village, it is located on the right bank of the Chkheri River beneath Kazbegi Mountain, at an elevation of 2,170 meters. Built in the 14th century, it is the only cross-cupola church in the Khevi province. In times of peril, valuable relics from Mtskheta, including Saint Nino’s Cross, were safeguarded here. Although religious services were banned during the Soviet Era, the church remained a popular tourist attraction. It is an active establishment of the Georgian Orthodox and Apostolic Church, offering an epic panoramic view of the entire valley. The church’s remote location in a steep, mountainous area rich in natural beauty makes it one of Georgia’s most iconic tourist attractions. Visitors will be awed by the view of Mount Kazbegi, which stands at 5,047 meters above sea level.
