Day 2: Tbilisi – Mtskheta – Ananuri – Kazbekhi – Gudauri
After breakfast, travel to Mtskheta, one of Georgia’s oldest towns and its cultural and religious hub. Mtskheta was the capital of the Eastern Georgian Kingdom of Iberia from the 3rd century BC. Visit Jvari Church, an architectural gem from the early Medieval Period, perched on a hilltop with views of the Aragvi and Mtkvari rivers’ confluence. Explore Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, Mtskheta’s main cathedral. Proceed to the Ananuri architectural complex, a former residence of the Argveti Dukes, featuring churches and towers from the 16th-17th centuries, overlooking the Jinvali reservoir. Continue along the Georgian Military Highway, reaching its highest point at 2379 m above sea level. Stop at a mineral water spring flowing from a hilltop. Arrive in Kazbekhi, a small town with views of Mt. Kazbekhi (or Mkinvari) at 5033 m, the seventh-highest peak in the Caucasus Mountains. Visit Gergeti Holy Trinity Church at 2170 m and enjoy stunning views of Mt. Kazbegi. Return to Gudauri for an overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 3: Gudauri – Gori – Uplistsikhe – Borjomi
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before driving to Gori to visit the Stalin Museum, which includes the small house where Stalin was born. Discover the cave town of Uplistsikhe, dating back to the Hellenistic Period, where various rock-cut cultures and pagan and Christian architecture coexist. Continue to Borjomi and take a stroll in the National Park, renowned for its mineral water reserves. Overnight in Borjomi.
